pass on a potential all pro DB for a fukking dime a dozen RB. :dead:

the RB class next year would make Elliot a fukking 4 round pick. :dead:
You sound silly breh, not one of them running backs coming out as versatile as Zeke. That aint taking nothing away from them, just facts. They better be thanking Zeke for going that high, just as Zeke should be thanking Gurley and Gordon for going 1st round last year

pretty standard 1st, Fish got a baller, Artie got picked and OSU didnt break Miami's record so it was a solid night

very surprised about the 3 Bama defenders, especially Robinson who is a really good 2 down DT

no real shockers, i dont know much about Butler the DT but most of the picks made sense. NYG reached like hell for Apple i think Burns and Jackson will both be better, actually liked Alexander more too

Kiper's 25 best available players on Day 2

There's a certain dread involved in drafting in the first round. You're making a big commitment to a player, and you know as a decision-maker that name is on your résumé -- success or failure.

Day 2? That's when you get excited. The contracts get a little smaller; you still get to draft players that compare favorably with many of the first-round guys; and when you get great players out of this range, history smiles on you.

Here are the best players left on my board heading into Day 2 of the 2016 NFL draft.

1. Myles Jack, ILB, UCLA
Questions about whether Jack's knee is a major concern have been answered. Yes, it is. But he's a top-10 talent and, if healthy, he's a fit on any roster.

Watch Jack's highlights

2. A'Shawn Robinson, DL, Alabama
Robinson fell based on questions of whether he can be a disruptive presence as opposed to more of a steady run-stopping type. He can go as soon as Cleveland with the first pick in Round 2.

Watch Robinson's highlights

3. Jarran Reed, DL, Alabama
Arguably the best run-stuffer in the class, he loses a little luster because he won't get sacks, but he makes any D-line better. Cleveland or Tennessee are fits right away in Round 2.

Watch Reed's highlights

4. Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
He's already a steal as the No. 24 player on my Big Board. A great value if he gets to the Giants.

Watch Ragland's highlights

5. *Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State
Remember that Bell is seen as a potential corner, even though he was a safety for Urban Meyer. Baltimore could be a fit.

Watch Bell's highlights

6. Jihad Ward, DL, Illinois
An athletic defensive lineman with a ton of upside, I expect him to go with one of the first 10 picks in Round 2.

Watch Ward's highlights

7. *Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
Dallas has its running back, and Ogbah could be the pass-rusher the Cowboys need early in Round 2.

Watch Ogbah's highlights

8. *Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson
Dodd was extremely productive in terms of raw totals, but he is still raw in a number of areas. Anyone who needs a pass-rusher is happy to see him available early in Round 2, however.

Watch Dodd's highlights

9. *Kamalei Correa, OLB, Boise State
He is explosive off the edge but more of a situational pass-rusher at this point. He has a number of fits, because he's a sub-package threat as a rookie.
Watch Correa's highlights

10. Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
I had Cook rated higher than Paxton Lynch, who the Broncos moved up to draft at No. 26. Would love the fit in Dallas.

Watch Cook's highlights

11. *Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor

12. Su'a Cravens, OLB, USC

13. Nick Martin, C, Notre Dame

14. *Noah Spence, OLB, Eastern Kentucky

16. Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana

17. *Tyler Boyd, WR, Pitt

20. *Deion Jones, OLB, LSU

2016 NFL Draft: 9 remaining gems left after Day 1

  • By Gil Brandt

CHICAGO -- Day 1 of the 2016 NFL Draft is in the books, and now it's time to turn our attention to Day 2.

There are still plenty of talented players remaining for teams in the second and third rounds on Friday, many who will become starters in the NFL. Below is a list of nine players I believe are the best remaining prospects on the board (with my original overall ranking in parenthesis):

1. Myles Jack (5), OLB, UCLA

It wasn't physical ability with Jack but his surgically repaired right knee. And I'm not sure he helped himself much by saying on Wednesday that the knee would likely require microfracture surgery. I know of at least two teams prior to that statement that had passed him physically. At some point he becomes a risk worth taking. Teams just weren't willing to take it in the first round. It will probably take a team with multiple second-round picks -- like the Titans, Seahawks or Patriots -- to pull the trigger.

2. A'Shawn Robinson (13), DT, Alabama

I was shocked when Robinson didn't go in the first round. He's a big man who moves very well. I'm not sure why he's still there. It could be the depth of the position he plays, with teams believing they can wait. Whatever the reason, some team is going to get a steal.

3. Kevin Dodd (16), DE, Clemson

I have to admit, I probably graded him too high. I put too much stock in his three-sack performance against Alabama in the National Championship game. Still, he's a very good player, and one of the top remaining pass rushers.

4. Reggie Ragland (18), ILB, Alabama

I think teams have serious concerns about whether Ragland can be a three-down player. I think he can, but obviously falling to the second round says otherwise. I was a little surprised when Green Bay passed on him to take DT Kenny Clark. There was a report Thursday that teams had flagged Ragland for an enlarged aorta, but I don't think that was much of a factor in his fall to Day 2.

5. Jarran Reed (21), DT, Alabama

Reed is a very strong player who plays the run extremely well. He doesn't provide a lot of pass rush, which might have hurt him. He doesn't possess any special traits or have a wow factor, but he's pretty good at a lot of things. I think he'll play a long time in the NFL.

6. Kamalei Correa (30), DE, Boise State

I would bet he's one of the first players off the board on Friday. He's one of the few pure pass rushers with speed that remain. He's a very good athlete who's probably best suited as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense.

7. Derrick Henry (32), RB, Alabama

Only one running back was taken in the first round -- Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott, who went to the Cowboys with the No. 4 pick. Elliott is an exceptional athlete with special skills. Henry's not in the same category, but he's a big back who can keep the chains moving. I think he'll be off the board by the middle of the second round.

8. Hunter Henry (33), TE, Arkansas

It's no surprise Henry didn't go in the first round. He's a tight end with limitations. Teams are concerned about his blocking. But he's still the best of a weak tight end class and has what I believe is second-round value.

9. Jason Spriggs (34), OT, Indiana

Seven offensive linemen went in Round 1, leaving Spriggs as the top option on Day 2. He has pretty good athletic ability for a man his size (6-6 5/8, 301) and started 47 games with the Hoosiers.

Other players I don't think will be around very long on Friday: DT Chris Jones, DE Jihad Ward, WR Sterling Shepard, and CB Mackensie Alexander. I think the Chiefs are candidates to take Alexander after trading out of the first round.
