True, very true. My mother used to waste money every month or so to get my hair permed until my father stepped in and got really angry and said we shouldn't be wasting money we could use towards more meaningful things than burning our daughter's scalp. So when I was little I wore dreadlocks, my hair grew really really fast and my Dad's side is full of Rastas so you could imagine. I learned to take care of my hair from all the men in my family, my mother's side insults my hair every chance they get, and they always try to persuade me to get a perm or something because my hair is unruly or whatever. And guess what? All of them have thinning hair, bald spots, or their hair simply won't grow. And they're broke as hell from all the money they spend on their hair. I literally use stuff from my kitchen and save all my money. They don't know what the fukk they're doing with the hair on they head so they do everything they can to try and manipulate it (because they hate it). The Black Hair industry is what, worth probably a billion dollars, and black women have no stake in it. Ain't that some shyt.
And you see how white people be bannin afros, locs, twists, basically anything that doesn't fit their Eurocentric standard and black women perpetuate it.
