I should know but I actually don't.

The thing is that 9th cares so little about it compared to Pooh and Tay. I guess he could be super petty and sue if he owned the name, but it's like they've been saying when asked on this podcast run they've been doing...LB was mostly a side interest at best for 9th after The Listening. So I doubt he even cares like that.

And I don't want to comment too much on The Listening since half of it was done before I met any of those dudes, but sessions were going on every single night with the entire J League. For example I wanna say Away From Me by LB and How Big Is Your World by Median were recorded on same day.

Legacy and 9th would do 2-3 joints a day on some days, and all of this was in the same room and running concurrently with The Listening sessions. So LB would do a song or 2, and then Comanche or Median or Legacy or Sean Boog or Floe would step in and do one, then LB again...it was a revolving door. What I remember most in that 01-03 period about LB was Pooh and Phonte writing their verses in a car together with the beat playing. But the idea that 9th, Phonte, and Pooh all got together and recorded this album between the 3 of them is not at all how it went down. The Listening and the bulk of of what became Paper Gods by Comanche, Project Mayhem by Legacy, Relief by Median, and even Sleepers by Pooh, was all recorded in the same window of time, in the same studio (Comanche's living room). Not to mention all the joints recorded for albums that either never came out or came out years later from Chaundon, Joe Scudda, Away Team, Edgar Allen Floe, Thyrday, the list goes on.

Honestly 9th recorded way more joints with Legacy than anyone else during that Listening recording session era. Leg recorded as much as music as Pac. He and 9th probably made a good hundred joints in the stash from 2001-2003 alone.

One thing about LB in general is they have almost no material on the cutting room floor from any time period. Basically everything they've ever recorded (at least from 2001-2010) has been released.

Dope post breh.

After listening to this album so many times, then going back to The Minstrel Show, somehow MTLW has enhanced the pleasure of listening to TMS.

It's even better, the skits are funnier and they just fit together so perfectly as 2 albums on the same timeline.

The 5th and Fashion Skit just hits different knowing there's gonna be a 5th a Fashion Prime. "Performing in blackface is my nikka Joe Scudda" on Lovin' It makes the "Life After Blackface" skit funnier, and it was already funny knowing Joe don't rap any more and opened a bar or some shyt. Hearing Percy Miracles sing and show up on songs makes me sad that we didn't get more.

I can't believe they pulled this off. This is some unprecedented shyt.

Crazy. I listened to TMS this morning for the first time in maybe a year and listened to MTLW right afterwards, and I had the exact same experience.

I never even remembered that Phonte said on Lovin' It that "performing in blackface is my dude Joe Scudda." Makes the title of the skit on MTLW that much funnier.

I love that LB has a whole little universe in their music.

9th been off of Little Brother for more over a decade now but 9th has stans. Mi istrel show was classic for hip hop period and changedthe game but 9th didnt create that whole album. He just supplied beats. If anything it was Phonte who has come up with pretty all of this Little Brother ish. He is really the dynamic creative mind.

This is as good as any hip hop I have heard in months. Great album. Beats aren't as diverse as they would be with 9th producing, but the beats are still soulful and banging. As good or better than TMS for me.

If you said better I wouldn't argue. taste is subjective. And 9th is easily one of my favorite producers of all time.

Without exaggeration though, the word diverse is one of last words I'd use to describe 9th's production. He's perfected his sound and yet he doesn't really stray from it either. And ironically that is one of the main reasons I like it so much.

Give me a mix of Khrysis, Nottz, Apollo Brown, Ilmind, etc over 100% 9th Wonder production any day

Same. So I have to dap.

But I do really like 9th. I think he’s a little bit underrated to be honest, despite me being happy he’s not with LB anymore.

I think people might like his beats a little more if he had released a little bit less music in his prime. He flooded the streets and the blogs pretty consistently every year from 2003-2013. And even since then he’s been pretty active.

He does seem to acknowledge how dope Khrysis is. On the 30 some Jamla releases this decade, Khrysis handled the bulk of production on all of them besides the Rapsody ones.

Exactly, last time 9th was on LB record was the joint with Lil Wayne. 9th is my fav. He is top 10 all time .
