And without Austin and Rock causing that second boom they dont take the company public on the stock market which made vince more money than anything ever.

Nah... yeah Hulkamania was huge, but Piper was the best heel in the company. Without the top heel involved, it becomes wrestling's biggest superstar against... one of the bad guys. Hulkamania, that feud and the teaming up with Mr. T all combined to make WrestleMania a success. Hogan had feuds with Nikolai, Bundy, Sheik, etc. during that era... but the Piper feud was the one that made the big money. The Orndorff feud in '86 drew, and only after the betrayal storyline... it wouldn't have drawn like that if it was just "Hogan vs. bad guy". Same way Hogan vs. Andre drew because of who he was against. Hogan vs. Harley Race or Hercules wouldn't have drawn half those "93,173" for Mania III, bet that.

His involvement in the main event at the first Wrestlemania is probably the biggest payoff in his career.
Yeah, I doubt Goldberg made that much money with Hogan, seeing as how they never did a big PPV feud with them because winning the ratings that week was more important.

No..they didn't benefit from it. They had to work hard to get fans to buy into those gimmicks and their work compared to a legendary NwO hot storyline on the other channel and in the end, fans chose Rock and Austin over Goldberg and the NwO. The NwO should of killed the WWF and been victorious but fans got really wild over that Tyson/Austin stuff and by the time the Rock got hot in 1999, it was definitely the end because fans were chanting "ROCKY" during WCW main events in the fall. The NwO kicked Bret Hart, Michaels, and Undertaker's ass. They slapped around the New Generation. That didn't ride on the Rock/Austin run...
