Though I agree profoundly
the only counter point I have is that WWE (and wrestling) is not inherently merit based. Sure, merit can be a factor sometimes (See Kofi, and see Becky Lynch) but if you are an actor on a TV show, tweeting that you want to be the star isn't how you become the star. It doesn't matter how great of an actor the man who played "Waldo" on Family Matters was, the show was written around Steve and the Winslows. (and to keep it a buck, it was originally just about the Winslows but the Steve character took off so they pivoted )
The same goes for WWE. Going on twitter and proclaiming what you want out of a scripted television show may not get you what you want. I have no clue what he is doing behind the scenes but if it were me, I would be the first one to the venue each show at TV, I'd be buying the writers coffee, I'd be pitching ideas, coming up with and testing catch phrases on social media, etc. etc. in order to get a higher placement on a TV show.
I think it's fantastic that he has ambition and I him, I think he's great. A better use of time would be for him to use twitter to cultivate a fanbase that translates into merch sales, and a significant fan interest. Calling out boogeymen (for things to be interpreted the wrong way) on twitter is only going to make the people who make decisions sour on you. And in an industry that is not fully merit based, you have to realize that you can't just climb the ladder on your own.
Annnnd this is how I feel, and have always felt about wrestlers hoppin' on social media to talk about stuff to a bunch of people who are never gonna be able to help improve their standing. That's the new wave shyt that so far has not helped ONE MF's career go any better. It reminds me of a relationship I was in some years ago, when I repeatedly found myself tellin' her, "you airin' all these issues out to 400 muhfukkas who don't even know me or you and don't know WTF is really goin' on... how is that helpin' or fixin' anything?" That social media outcry shyt is overrated and does nothing but satisfy "fans" who wanna know all the dirt. It all sounds like shyt that should be addressed with the people who actually matter. All this same energy could be applied to actually gaining fan support.
I couldn't imagine Steve Austin or Rock or HHH going on the internet to complain about how they don't like their onscreen roles... and I'm sure all three of them at one point or another weren't crazy about their places on the card, but they probably took it up with the people they needed to talk to, not random anonymous people who can't do shyt about it.
