They did do a good job of showing how complicated the conflict was on both sides of the debate. People that were for/against abolition or for/against negotiating peace for diff. reasons... you have to see for yourself though.

As far as I know he didn't have anything against black people, was just more interested in keeping the union together than freeing them. Luckily for black people, the two things coincided.

Not everyone knows all the events covered in the movie. I know it sounds dumb, but we can't start allowing people to just start talking specific parts of a game or movie in the damn title. It's never been allowed

Saw it last night. Very good acting, and script, the dialogue was very intricate, beautiful use of language, but as a movie....I wasn't very moved, one way or the other, it was more of a history lesson then a compelling film. Long, dragged, imo, I was like 'If I have to hear one more conversation between Lincoln and some senator or whatever'...' Joeseph Gordon Levitt gets the Heath Ledger in 'The Patriot' role, "Daddy I want to join the Army'...which is a storyline, despite it's historical accuracy, I am sick of. It's a good movie, well made, competent, just not a fun, entertaining, or moving one.

also extra cheesy at times, but thats Spielberg and Williams.

Maybe, but I'm interested in seeing some legit sources... as someone that likes history.

Jefferson/Franklin weren't even from the same era as Lincoln, though. So besides Jefferson being racist (which, if he did hate black people he had no problem fukking them) and both him and Lincoln being presidents, is irrelevant brew.
