Same here.

All my brothers inherited my dad's features except me since I inherited my darker features from my mom. My dad taught me to love myself but I still saw the light skin is treated better stuff within that side of my family. :ld:

Would you notice it if you and your family went out together? Did strangers make comments?

Yeah, as a kid people would make comments about how dark I was and how come I didn't get my dad's color as well as assume I wasn't his daughter (especially since I am a spitting image of my mother and didn't inherit anything from my pops besides curly hair). Black folk can be pretty self deprecating. I learned to be that way (humorously albeit) as a result. :ld:

Well...well...well....isn't this interesting...:ehh:...the light-skin folk are being just as dismissive and in denial about color and complexion priveliges as the white folks are towards black folks :mindblown:

The whole "we all just nikkas" crowd...sound just as in denial and as delusional as the White folks who use the "we're all just humans" type of talk :ohhh:

No, were not all humans. What are you, Saiyan?

If they don't want to be onboard with black issues, fine, Im not trying to claim ANYONE. But for those who ride 100 percent for black issues, and see THEMSELVES as black, then they should not be rejected. Malcolm X and Bob Marley were mixed, so we shouldn't even claimed them in Black History Month.

Thecoli, yall. :heh:
non of Malcolm parents was white.

i really don't think you can call what light skin people get privilege.

same way you can't call the sexual fetishization of black men a "privilege" just because they find it easier to get white women.

light skin black people are favored outside of the black community and seen as more intelligent, attractive, and face less discrimination. Yes light skin black people face racism but its not as bad as dark skin people. I also read somewhere light skin women are more likely to get married than dark skin women. Society sees blacks different based on color don't believe the lie they see all black people the same, people aren't blind. that shouldnt matter though, it sucks that there is colorism inside the black community, you divide and seperate eachother but get mad when others do it.

No, I don't believe I have "privilege". Thinking throughout my years, dark skin black women are usually the ones that have persued me the most. Also I get asked often what am I mixed with it, just a very light skinned guy.

But on the flip side, I've caught heat from dudes who automatically assume because I'm light skinned that I'm weak so there has been times that I had to prove myself. When I was a pre-teen, & througout HS I had the label of "pretty boy", I'd noticed a lot of light skinned dudes had that label, now I get the label of a metrosexual.

To me the whole thing silly, but I have seen some of the differences in society but when it comes to cops & things of that nature it doesn't matter if I'm light or black as the night I'll still be murdered even if I'm unarmed & minding my business.

I agree with this at least in my experience, but i still got racial slurs thrown at me before I even finished 2nd grade. A lot of white kids early on learn racial hate from their parents and then project it onto you, whether you're lightskin or dark. Just as long as you have the black features
