Yes I watched the whole movie.
Then saying you misunderstood the ending is an understatement.
Yes I watched the whole movie.
Explain it please
this having to be explainedIn the movie's final scene, with the Japanese maritime officers, he tells them that he made up that story and the REAL story is that a sailor, the cook and his mom were on the raft with him (the Zebra, the Hyena and the Orangutang)....he made up the "fantasy" story because it was "a better story" than the horrific truth (which involved the cook killing and eating his mother and then him killing and eating the cook - the Tiger = Pi/Pi's "darkness")
There is much more to the film and the ending as it relates to the concept of faith...but that's the gist of it. Hope that helped.

exactlyI mean....I understand people debating what the end "means" andbut not even knowing that was an option?which story was true
Imma have to see this movie again to pick up on those thingfor those of you who have seen this movie...
which version of the story do you believe actually occurred?
also, assuming the 2nd story is true, what does the island with the ferret looking animals represent?
another thing I noticed is that in story 1, Pi tosses the rat to the lion... but when he's telling story 2 to the investigators, he says the cook (the hyena) ate the rat... shouldn't the hyena have ate the rat in story 1, then?
