If you read the article, everything that Jay Z did in the 00's, Biggie was already planning

you think biggie was the only one with those type of plans breh?

that was like the general blueprint that a lot of major rappers were working with.

Biggie never got the chance to even try so maybe it's false just to add to the bulletproof legacy

But he was on his way to realistically going into those business ventures and making a success out of them

a lot of artists didn't get the proper chance either for one reason or another.

I remember a number of labels & crews that got their legs cut from under them for one reason or another. a number of them had more talent and/or potential success than the crew that biggie assembled. but very few people sit around wondering 'what-if' about them.

and shoot, we pretty much saw what junior mafia & undeas could do. the only real standouts were kim & cam. we know kim was only gonna go as far as whoever penned her, and cam had to go back & re-invent himself.

I'm just saying. we gotta chill with the dead rapper worship. they were human & had their expiration dates like everybody else. and in big's case, his monumental double album would've been seen in a different light had he not died right before its release. that should be the 1st thing that should be addressed in a biggie projection thread. i.e. theres no way he follows up with a triple cd after that. so why wonder about it?

19 Years After it's release, Biggie's "Life After Death" makes a shocking 130 spot jump to #32 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts. It's listed as Billboard's Greatest Grainer of the week. Biggie still holds the record for largest Jump in Billboard History from 176 to 1 in March of 1997. It's currently the 8th Highest Selling Rap album this week in the country.

:ohhh:

Double Diamond Plaque incoming? Damn.

Google Music was giving the album away free. So maybe the downloads counted for sales.

the landscape would've been different. But I think Biggie would've eventually branched off from Puff and became basically what Jay is now, but maybe more active. Do alot of guest verses for his artists and basically drop an album every 3-4 years. And basically be a special attraction.

I think NY would've stayed relevant much longer.

Also, Jay sort of got passed the torch whether he wanted it or not. Because he had a classic with RD and b/c he knew Biggie.

A lot of negative people spittin on biggie's legacy, you guys don't realize how special BIG was and he would have executed 80% of these plans if not more! Sh*t he already did some while he was alive. What i'm wondering is, how would his music have changed around post 03, a lot of sh*t was going hay-wire with music especially in NY and the south was taking over with their BS, but being the what if, i think what Jay did was smart as any rapper from NY did... take that 3 year "retirement break" and come back with an album after that era, disappear again a bit and come back to ride on the "New wave" ala blueprint 3. That's pretty much how Jay stayed relevant while the rest of NY fell off.

This past year also saw a release of the Documentary "The Life of Biggie Smalls". USA has dropped the Biggie and Tupac murder mystery mini series "Unsolved" and Jamall Woolard reprise his role from "Notorious" and played Biggie again in the Tupac Bio-Pic "All Eyez on Me" connecting the films. Faith also did a tribute R&B LP "The King & I" released in 2017. Also Biggie collaborator and Friend Ma$e made a small comeback and mentioned his legacy in several interviews. Speaking of that, Bad Boy went on a 20th Anniversary Major Tour and Biggie's Jersey was retired in Brooklyn at the Barclays. A Basketball Park where Biggie use to hang out in Brooklyn was also named after him. His Life After Death Continues.............

Such a tremendous talent squandered over foolishness, but certainly not forgotten.
