That shyt was probably pillow music. I heard a couple of joints. Apollo Brown is nothing to write home about.

Nope, shyt was not pillow music. But then you haven't heard the album so it's pointless discussion. Give it a listen...

You didn't like trophies? Brown tape? Words Paint Pictures?

It's not pointless. If dude produced the entire album, and I've heard the 3 most popular joints off that album, and they were trash, why would I waste my time going through the whole thing?

I'm willing to switch my opinion on this. I'm just saying that every Apollo Brown beat I've ever heard was weak, with the exception of the semi-weak "Center of Attraction" off the Brown Tape. Ras Kass, an elite rapper (or formerly elite), needs to pair himself with an elite or near-elite producer. Not some dull Premo imitator.

I'm willing to switch my opinion on this (3). I'm just saying that every Apollo Brown beat I've ever heard was weak (4), with the exception of the semi-weak "Center of Attraction" off the Brown Tape. 1 - Ras pairing himself with Apollo produced excellent results, in my opinion. I've seen mostly positive feedback about the album.

2 - "in your opinion". I don't know what tracks you listened to, but at a guess H20 and Humble Pi will probably be amongst them. Them shyt's is fire so there really is nothing i can say to you at this point.

3 - :usure:Would that not be wasting your time?

4 - Fine, you personally just don't fukks with dude. I'm sure others don't too. But he has produced entire albums for O.C, Big Pooh and Ghost which were all dope.

Just because I think someone is trash doesn't mean I'm against recommendations. I might have heard all the wrong tracks.

Unlike most hip hop fans, I'm flexible. I might think someone is trash, but if they make something impressive, I'll give em props for it.

That's fair enough breh but you already said why would you waste your time listening to it:pachaha:

To be honest, from your comments, I don't think it's for you.

Still think you should listen though lol

Ras kass was on another level he had some goat verses I can't front. The only thing bout ras kass was that video with him and three gay white boys going at game :snoop:he was probably on crack wen he did that. Regardless in his prime he could wash any west coast artist in history.

By the way, why in the fukk has the entire Soul On Ice never been remixed with better beats? If there's ONE album in hip hop history that needs remixing, it's that one.

don't know if i said this in the thread before but he should have had a line up more like Xzibit's first album. Diamond D, E-Swift, Muggs, even that Thayod Ausar bloke had dope beats.

Ras' has one of Hip Hop's saddest stories.

But he made a lot of dumb moves too though. This cat was probably one of the illest lyricists in this shyt in the mid' 90's. I remember readin' The Source heavily back in like '96, and they would have tons of his verses in there like every other issue.

He's made some foolish choices, like choosin' to stay with Priority for more money, instead of singing with Dre. Then his drinkin' problem really sidelined his career, durin' a time when his buzz was finally starting to pick up, he ended up locked up. Hip Hop is all about timing. And he just wasted too many opportunities.

But I'm still fukkin' with Soul on Ice like it dropped yesterday.

The Source put me on to Ras too. This was back when I'd hit the record store every Tuesday and but any new albums that dropped. I seen a few articles on him and the verse of the month for H2O Proof but then they kind of shyt on it in the review so I was hesitant to check for it. Heard him on the Kid Kapri CD with Punchline on "One on One" and had to cop his shyt. Once I heard Rassassination that shyt did not leave my stereo. Finding Soul On Ice was damn near impossible. I hit every record store in any city I was at and nobody had it. Finally found it in a Sam Goody in a mall for $25. I heard that shyt and it blew my mind and I became a full blown stan. Followed all the shyt going on with his albums and arrests then after enough time just lost all interest in him.
