What I learned by talking to folks in Nigeria is sad
Doctors making 250k naira a month
Nurses 175k naira a month
Security dude making 40k naira a month
Highly educated folks making 60-100k naira a month
No wonder folks want to leave that's crazy
Nigeria is losing its white collar class - again. Same thing happened last time Buhari was head of state
It's crazy, imagine working 9-5 40 hrs a week dealing with heat and traffic for like 800 cdn bucks a month
No wonder there are so much prostitutes
You were in Lagos. Imagine if you travelled around to Adamawa, Plateau, Ebonyi, Kano states...it’s bad out there
Can someone hip a yankee on the goings on in Nigeria?
@The Odum of Ala Igbo
Do they have advance polls for the elections? Like who is estimated to be in front now?
Nigeria is a funny place. Last few weeks in Lagos have been eye opening. Mainland is where regular and poor people live while the islands (Banana, Lekki, Victoria and Ikoyi) are where the elites reside and work. I have never seen people who were so flamboyant when it came to wealth especially in a poor country. It's a sad situation all over then again that' Africa let's not pick on Nigeria. The women LOVE money in this city. It's like if you are just a regular guy, you ain't shyt LOL.
It's literally a tale of two cities although there are nice spots on the mainland like surulele and ikeja
The thing is many people front though just because you work or live on the island doesn't mean you're cakibg. Lekki is filled with prostitutes like 7 of em sharing one house.
The pay is the most rediculous thing in Nigeria, I loved Lagos and my vacation. But the salaries are out of wack but what's rediculous there are so many expats and they are making great $$
I'd be pissed as a Nigerian there smart and educated yet making like 100,000 naira a month while some cac is making 100,000 usd a year.
A proper government would have looked into this because it's ridiculous
Best bet is to work for a multinational which has its pros and cons. Multinationals for the past few years have been making efforts to hire locally so transfer of skill and technology can happen once the company leaves or shuts down its operations but at the same time you don't get the same compensation package as an expat. (i.e housing paid, house help, kids' education paid for at some international school and driver) that's almost everywhere I have been in Africa including Nigeria
I was shocked at the amount of expats I saw, Chinese, white folks etc. Making big bank then I'd talk to a local educated and there making like 100k naira a month.
Up here in Canada it's Canadians first you have to show the government that you couldn't find a local with the experience to fill a job before you hire outside.
Hell the Lebanese like own Victoria island
