There needs to be stronger Southern and Eastern political collaboration. A very tight and well coordinated long term strategic plan would tilt the power in Nigeria.

But sadly, these Southern politicians are just in it for their pockets.

The historical trajectory of southern Nigeria doesn’t support a southern political alliance. However, with Christians in the Middle Belt reconsidering the Arewa political project, perhaps history’s course will change.

Look. These Southern politicians need to get in their bag and get it out the mud. With the little they get from Federal funds they need to organize and invest heavily in Southern-Eastern economic development.

Build it and they will come.

But in Nigeria, build it and they will recognize you.

Look at Lagos, no politican wants smoke with Lagos. That state is moving because it has the economic infrastructure.

There is no reason Dangote should be building refineries in Lagos when the oil is being drilled from the Niger Delta.

Like other regions in Nigeria, the South-East suffers from poor governance in a few states such as Imo State. Anambra can't do everything by itself (in terms of development). Furthermore, it's really hard to develop your region unless you have access to the sea. Some south-eastern leaders have gotten around that difficulty by building cargo airports but the fact that Warri, Port Harcourt and Ikot-Ekpene are being ignored by the federal government is disastrous for the South East.

Lagos had an unfair advantage for decades while it was the capital of Nigeria. It got billions of infrastructure development from the Niger Delta's oil money.
