It could be Indian-Pakistan partition bloody though, you're almost guaranteed warfare if there if there is a split.
You do realize there is a massive gap right. I think Black Americans shouldn't speak on this if you do not understand Nigeria period. This is not America, it's not white or Black.

In the event that the 5 Igbo States (and maybe Delta or Rivers) secedes from Nigeria without a referendum/with a referendum that isn't honoured by Nigeria, what do you think will happen?

I'm not saying its White or Black, I'm fairly sure it would be a two-state split, even though both states would be multi-national.
And it would be bloody, states don't seceded or break apart without violence, especially if the split is due to inherent inequalities within the original state.
Do you think the West and Niger Delta, who have been clamoring for self-determination for decades, would be able to do so without violence?

Nigeria is veering towards state failure. Buhari's failed Presidency has pushed it closer to the edge.

Boko Haram - undefeated
Niger Delta - renewed revolt
Shi'ites - Increasingly anti-gov't
Igbos - Approaching militancy for Biafra
Fulani herdsmen - Still murdering with impunity
:francis:

If Nigeria were to end up in a civil war, how do you think that these groups would be aligned? I fear that it could end up in a situation similar to Syria- after all, the Americans predicted a break-up in 2015.

No clue. It's all up in the air. I don't know if the Middle Belt (Plateau, Taraba etc.) would join Arewa or if the Niger Delta would ally with Igbos

I feel that the "powers that be" want to keep Nigeria together, even though its unjust unity will create more poverty, violence and extremism.
I met some Nigerians in school and follow some on twitter (and read posts about Nigeria here) and :whoo:y'all got issues
