Somalia's pre islam history seems like a bit blur outside of texts from Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.

Not only that there are hardly any books on Somali history compared to other parts of Africa. Many sources I see are from Wikipedia or very OLD books.

Have you checked out the books offered by Red Sea Press? It’s a black owned publishing company that specializes in Horn of Africa studies. I know they’ve got a few books on Somali history and identity.
