PWInsider reports that there has been no talk within WWE of Jerry Lawler not returning to commentary but there has been talk of him never wrestling again.
On a related note, they add that Vince McMahon told Lawler to do what he needs to do so he can get better and that his commentary job is safe. Vince was said to be shaken up and very concerned over the whole situation with Lawler's health.

commentary is supremely underrated. do you think the attitude era or ecw would've been the same without ross, heel lawler, or joey styles?

jbl brings instant credibility and actually has an opinion. he could for the most part do what he pleases, since at the end of the day he's not at the mercy of the company and doesn't need this job. he's also a natural.
