Maiyamoto tries so hard to be some sort of gaming genius or guru, but IMO he's an overrated video game director that gets more credit than he should
Let's start with Super Mario 2. Any gamer will tell you that he fukked up bad with SMB2- the plot was confusing as **** and let's be honest most of us were like 5 - 6 while playing that game and had to no idea wtf was going on. Then he did that stupid twist where you play as Mario, Luigi, Toad, or the princess. He fooled everyone in the gaming industry showing only Mario's side of things, and kept the the other 3 under wraps till you played it.
Then he creates the masterpiece that was SMB3. Obviously he learned from the criticism that SMB2 got and figured out that people actually wanna play as Mario and not have to play as other players and to figure out what the **** was going on. He left toad int he bushes.
Then comes out the disappointing Super Mario World 2, where Maiyamoto again tries to mind **** us with his charactor bullshyt. Most of the time is spent PLAYING AS YOSHI rather than PLAYING AS MARIO. Anything he did good with SMB3 and WORLD, he went in reverse with SMW2. Just because he can and wants to be known as some crazy weird game director.
I have only been able to play SMW2 once, and can't get back in it. It's such a poorly designed game with no sense of purpose. The only reason it got good reviews was cause of the history of the series, and it was for Super Nintendo so it couldn't fail and because noone wanted to say at the time that Maiyamoto fukked up. It was only after so many years where people actually started to criticize the game and how horrible it really was.
Now comes Super Mario Sunshine. Again, Kojima is trying way too hard. It has been confirmed that Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy are two separate games. {wtf}

He has lost so much credibility with his bi-polar decisions. How many times he said he will never direct Super Mario again? And here we are, another Mario game. Truth be told, Maiyamoto hasn't done **** besides the Mario and Zelda series. This is his only option where he is still employed. No one else wants anything from Maiyamoto. Cause he tries to turn everything into some kids game with gimmicks and stuff that no one gives a **** about. He's the M.Night.Shamalan of the gaming industry.

The graphics and the general interest of the snake storyline carried that game. Bosses were ass, gameplay was scarce and uninspiring.. might as well call that shyt heavy rain solid 4
.....me and my homeboys were on that shyt all day erryday 
the hands free cartwheel instead of the roll, the back flip instead of the plain hop over. The fact this nikka had to kill Vamp a bajillion times, and STILL had to deal with Ocleot and Arsenal Gear and multiple Metal Gear RAYs...dislike his personality Raiden was just as dope.
and the sheer scope was unlike anything we seen in MGS....
