Yeah, I've traveled upstate a couple of time and Syracuse does have a few good pizza spots.Some of the best pizza in NY is Upstate or on Long Island where there is strong Italian contingent. One of the best slices I ever ate was in Syracuse.

NYC has more than dollar pizzeria spots when people and publications crown NYC as the goat pizza spot, it's not because of little ole dollar slices .before I eat a dollar slice.
