Read this recently too...it was written in the late '80s so it's pretty dated, and the authors are cac as can be...but one of those authors also happens to be probably the most universally acclaimed writer of the past 3 decades, and to see him as a young buck spitting about hip hop is worth the while

I bought this a couple months back, but my schedule has been so crazy I keep pushing back on finishing it. I'm like 45 pages in and the back story behind Pimp's life :ohhh:

Decoded was dope too. I enjoyed that, I think MC's would enjoy that too, fans in general though cause he tells some dope stories.

The RZA book was quite interesting too.

If we're including graphic novels, these are apparently quite dope (haven't read em yet) and are done by a local Pittsburgh guy

I actually wouldn't recommend this one...found it at a local library and figured it'd be worth a quick read, but the author is a cac hipster chick who seems to have a crush on Dirty more than wants to do research on him.

@letti cook

I follow Shea on twitter and he's been promoting that book heavy the past few months. From what i understand there's an AUX input in the book to listen to music?

@dank wit

Nah I got the physical copy of the book.

:lupe:if there is, I haven't noticed it. But like I said, I haven't gotten to it yet. I bought a rack of books off amazon. Started with Jalen Rose new joint, put the rest on my shelf. I'll check for it when I get to the crib.

Norfeast groovin…
@hustlemania postin them "Woke nikka 101" books tho. :russ: :myman:

I actually have the uncorrected proof of that Scarface book sitting in my bathroom. I'ma still try to get that in the store.

But in terms of Hip Hop books I actually haven't read too many but the ones I liked were the Pac poetry book, Chuck D's autobio "Fight the Power", and the book written by the cop that investigated Biggie's murder....there was lots of pieces of that whole time period that were added thanks to that book. I hadn't known about that incident between Quik and the 60 before reading that book.
