i dont think i can define whats hood or not :whoa: but as a fan of the show i would say on a purely economical level, martin lived in a pretty nice apartment (by my standards anyway). im not sure what WZUP paid, but gina was a business woman so they could've been making 100-200k as a household in the 90s.

my main question is how did bruh man get to martins apartment? martin lived in 42, so bruh man was rappeling down from the fifth floor, and back up... usually with a sandwich

with no balconies

riddle me that @BrothaZay
Fire escape

Or according to Tariq Nasheed FBAs have special powers when we call to the ancestors.

He had a space where he claimed slaves didn’t use cook books or recipes.

The ancestors just told us how much seasoning to add

And no, I’m not trolling.

Characters you find in the hood and not the suburbs

Plenty of business owners in the hood, are you FBA?
So there aren’t people who grew up in the hood who moved into nicer neighborhoods? Martin worked at the radio station and Gina was making a decent wage in her office job. They were middle class. So I assume Shanaynay who lived next door was making decent money too. And I assume Bruh Man wasn’t doing too bad for himself either.

That’s why I asked you how are you defining hood?

It depends on what you consider hood. Shanaynay (I hated that character) was a business owner. I don’t know what made Bruh Man “hood”? What made Mama Payne “hood”? The only ones I’ll give you is Jerome and Mad Dog.
Bruh man is a character that can only exist in TV :mjlol: I don't think any Black Man from any area would be OK with some random big husky nikka just coming into your apartment THOUGH THE WINDOW and eating your food and shyt :dahell:

Yeah the hood has home break ins but they usually steal electronics and jewelry and leave. Not simply hang around and make themselves a sandwich :heh:

She owned a hair salon, are hair salons not in the hood:gucci:?

Martin is hood, but when people say "hood" movies it usually means theres some criminal element or violence involved. Which is why i think some people are hesitant calling it a "hood show". But its more relateable for the average person who grew up in the hood, moreso than those "hood movies".
How do you define “hood”?

A hood show to me is elements of hood culture with characters you find in the hood. Even story lines. Wasn’t the fast food spot named “hoochie burger “ ?
It’s definitely a hood show Breh. Martin was working class. Gina may of been middle class and together yea they got papered up.

It seem your definition of a hood show is good times, where they are just straight up dirt poor in the projects.

Good Times is more hood because they actually lived IN the hood.
I agree it is

But if that’s the case Everybody Hates Chris is a hood show as well, however I’m sure way more ppl in the hood relate to Martin than EHC

Wayans Bros would be a hood show as well

I can agree that EHC is a hood show. Wayans didn’t live in the hood, correct me if I’m wrong though.

A hood show to me is if they lived in the hood or the show takes place in the hood. It doesn’t even have to be any criminality involved.
