I think Hogan holds him down for a while as best he can, but Sting replaces Bret Hart as the guy after Hogan. He wouldn't have flopped like Luger did.

Early 90s Sting was over like rover with kids. We didn't get WCW here and I knew who he was because people had his action figure. I never even heard of another WCW guy in that era. When Flair joined WWF I had no clue who he was. Yet everyone knew Sting.

Vince would have given him the ball without a shadow of a doubt.

when i was a little kid in the late 80's and early 90's my family didn't watch WCW. it was just that "other" wrestling promotion.

and yet despite all that somehow WCW merchandise still made it's way into my home. i had the action figures and i even had wrestling buddies. (oh yes... they made WCW wrestling buddies).

so even though i never watched WCW as a kid, i still knew who sting, luger and flair were. and the steiner brothers, and flyin brian, all them muthafukkas... crazy right?

THAT'S how big wrestling was.

I'm not lying, I was 5 then and the only access to wrestling was WWF so Flair was nobody to me. The action figures were a huge deal though, kids who didn't even watch wrestling played with the action figures. Sting was the only non-WWF you would see. It was kinda shytty because it was the wrong size compared to WWF figures and was just a solid lump of plastic whereas the WWF ones had moving parts. I'm not saying Sting was a household name in the UK or anything, but 5 year olds who played with wrestling figures knew him. That action figure was the only reason I knew a thing called WCW existed back then :yeshrug:

This is exactly how my childhood was. I actually lived overseas - it was hard enough to get WWF, but they damn sure weren't showing WCW. But I somehow had all those stiff ass figurines. That's how I knew who Ric Flair was when he came over.

Sting would have been huge, I think he would have still had the match with Hogan that Warrior did and Sting would have won the belt too and because he is a much more loyal dude who is not a basket case he probably would have had multiple title runs.
I don't think we would have ever got the Crow Sting gimmick though.

Sting would have been pushed as Hogans successor, and with him being more similar to Hulk than Luger who got the same push, it would have never worked at that time.

With his talent he would have excelled in some way regardless. But I kind of feel since he wasn't the biggest guy that Vince wouldn't have pushed him until he had too like with Bret and Shawn and the rest. But by the mid 90's I think he would have been a champion regardless.

He would never be the Crow which would automatically deem his run a failure unfortunately.

Sting isn't short and damn sure had some weight on him. Bret and Shawn were little guys but Sting was a strong ass nygga and big. He wasn't CUT like Warrior or Luger but he wasn't no skinny little piece of shyt that would get handled.

I might be alone on this but his legacy was/is cemented even without the WWE. Like another poster said that Flair feud made him and Hogan wouldn't have done that.

Exactly. You just have to look at the photograph in the OP to see him towering over Hellwig.
