Wow u aint even going to give garnett for that one year in the mid 00s :usure: And I think a lot of u cats are being rather charitable with kobe.Having free reign to chuck doesnt make you the best player. We knew he could score but he didnt exactly do much else.Especially before gasol came to town
Everyone had Kobe as the best back then. Kobe didn't just score. He scored points at a historical level. He was doing things that only Wilt did. He was also a great defender and play maker during those years.

how can it not count? LeBron struggled to find chemistry with his new team. meanwhile, Rose was killin' shyt.

is LeBron the best player in basketball? absolutely. only idiots that dont like the guy would say Durant or still try to make an argument for #24. but does that mean, he's the best player yr after yr? no. every now and then a player will come along and have a better yr. but that doesnt change the fact that the general consensus would be that LeBron is the best player in the league.

i'm just going off the criteria that the OP has given.

Lebron last yr. 26.7ppg 51%FG%, 7.5 Rebounds, 7 assist, 3pt% 33.0%

Rose Last yr. 25.0ppg 43.5% FG%, 4 Rebounds, 7.7 Assist, 3pt% 33.2%

Rose is Iverson 2.0. Iverson would have shot 43% too if he played in this era, because of the rule change.

Kobe received a lot of hate this year and rightfully so for his shooting percentage, but why does a guy that won an MVP in the same year he shot 43% receive none?

He had passive teammates, a sitting duck coach and as we know an "i'm going to get mine" shoot first mentality.Having a string of games averaging 40 aint nothing.Scoring 81 against Toronto was overpublisized dude had a chip on his shoulder and assumed by scoring all these points it would validate him as a player out of shaq's shadow. But he failed woefully when it counted lookin back he was just AI/Tmac redux to me

Phil Jackson TOLD him to score. That was our best chance at winning games. We had no other scoring option. Lamar was very inconsistent. Could get you 18 one game and 5 in the other. Smush Parker, Luke etc. They all sucked. Why didn't Kobe come out chucking in 05 then? If he wanted to prove himself, he could have easily won the scoring title that year. At the start of the 07 season Kobe was averaging around 26 a game for the first two months and the Lakers had the 3rd seed, then everyone went down with an injury and Phil instructed Kobe to go back into scoring mode. At one point we lost 7 games in a row and was on the verge of missing the playoffs.

Thank You.

I might get flack for this, but its hard for me for a bigman to be the best player in the league....too limited at end game situations mostly and while the greats have been skilled...are they really more skill-full then a guard can be?
