Let's keep it 100: Hip-Hop is not a culture.

Here's the thing about these 2 points you made.

This proves the importance of social media at least from a standpoint of understand what is culturally important to people of all demographics.

Yeah...if YOU understand it you better believe THEY understand it...the conditioning doesn't stop just because you're on "your" facebook, like I said, reality TV is scripted, the media is still the "media" even when you put social in front of it.

I don't think black folk just up and stopped caring about the other aspects of the culture, they just aren't exposed to it because "Hip Hop is a genre". You can't buy a mural or a dance move, a beat box ect.

Based on my social media followers and the people I follow I can give you somewhat of an idea of what is still seen as relevant to black people.

From an entertainment and more serious means of relevancy.

From as serious as police brutality to as meaningless as what songs are popular. Social media has kept me updated on what people care about.

While I have seen people post battle rap I've never seen anyone post anything pertaining to hip-hop culture outside of that and rap music.

That's what's leading me to believe the "culture" of hip-hop has and continues to decline

You should probably use a little more discernment in life, generally.

And who's fault is that?

How come at no point none of the acts from the older generation said "fukk your, fukk MTV and fukk media outlets we doin own, we doing own own shyt"?
:dahell: at what point have artists who are anti-establishment NOT done that? And if/when they do, do you expect to hear about them revolting against the establishment on the same media outlets they're revolting against? :francis: Obviously not, so how could you possibly say it's not happening? You're the one who fell into the belief that it doesn't exist because you aren't as connected with the culture as you feel you are or should automatically be simply because you listen to hip-hop. That's where you're confused.

That's like saying just because taxes are high that people aren't fighting constantly to have them lowered when it's actually quite the opposite.

You're displaying a very typical cultural disconnect... you believe because you don't see a principle value with your own eyes that it doesn't exist. You're a non-believer breh. It's like someone moved to a new country and says they don't have a burger joint because they haven't been 5 miles southwest of where they live – you don't really give a shyt burgers like you thought... you'll just dismiss looking for it. You just aren't looking in the right places.

This is culture, not convenience. You can't just sit around and expect to be immersed in a culture if your participation in it is minimal. Whether your an artist or fan. nikkas don't go to shows. nikkas don't buy physical music with artwork. Most nikkas these days don't fukk with turntablism. Nobody goin to check B-Boy competitions. They're happening all the time. That's y'all fault. There's tons of shyt going on that you just choose to ignore... it's easier that way to dismiss shyt and say things don't exist.

So you're telling me you can't get an idea of what issues people are concerned with and what is popular amongst certain demographics based on social media?

How is what a person I know in real life posting anout things they like/care about fake news?
One of your friends you know posting about a topic on social media doesn't make it a good source of information. How the hell do you know the demographic of a person who's posting on the internet behind a screen name and a profile pic? You don't. Which makes it fake. You're acting like the internet and it's users are held in high regard for their integrity and honesty. The person posting could be any old age, say they're from anywhere, and be a boy when it's really a girl... and then create 3 different accounts to share the same troll opinion. Look at this site itself... it's a perfect example of why social media is a terrible place to gather relevant opinion and targeting demographics is impossible.

For real :francis:

If it were all the artist y'all hate would not be allowed to have a career due to them not respecting Hip-Hop as a culture. It's a genre of music and that's it.

And I blame the old heads. They dropped the ball on this shyt. If they knew their self worth and didn't allow Cacs to completely take their shyt over they would be heads of their own record labels completely separate from the majors.

We love complaining about the new generation of shyt without holding any of the older generations responsible for what lead to it being what it is today.

Who are the gatekeepers?

Whoever is the loudest at the moment?
Joe Budden?:mjlol:
Funk Flex?:mjlol:

Shut your clueless fakkit ass up breh talking on things you dont know about.....

Companies are paying social media sites to find out what a person writes, tweets, words they use and things they like just to better tailor their advertisements to them.

You can't tell me that social media can't be used in ways to figure out what people like/want/buy/ what's currently popular.

Figuring out for what's popular for what purpose?? Are we selling goods or are we speaking about a declining culture? Culture isn't based on trends, culture is based on art and literature. You keep trying to fuse the ideas of the establishments use of the culture and the culture itself.
