Can't believe it but I agree with Skippy here. And I like David Sirota and usually enjoy his articles. But this one was journalism of the kind that makes the left look bad.

This appears to be a similar sentiment held by most white people. The idea of race being a factor in how a person is handled in the media and/or the court system is always such a "shock" to most white people that they usually maintain the head in the sand approach whenever the topic is broached.

Whether you choose to admit it or not the race and/or nationality of the perpetrator has HUGE ramifications on how this is handled. We can only hope its a white male because if it is, likely no new policy changes will result. If the perpetrator is an Arab, African, or any non white person, God help us all.

if it were a muslim people would see it as a direct attack on america by the whole of the middle east, when in fact it's a small fukking crazy group of radical muslims. in america if anyone brown attacks whites the country takes it as a personal vendetta from an entire culture. a white guy/police officer kills a black kid nothing to see here. trayvon martin? black kid shot by the police?

if its a white guy this will be forgetten. when whites kill each other its seen as flukes, slips in the perfect race that is them, no reason to panic. dark skin person kills white people they attacking lets kill em all!

the news media, whites, and america in general (even blacks) see dark skin as a threat and thats the underlying problem. white people are seen as generally harmless so when one kills its always viewed as an isolated incident that couldn't be avoided. black guys kill its the gang violence and when arabs kill its islam coming to get us so we must militarize (the military and police) and actively hunt them because if one can kill all of them are deadly.

Whether you consider these suspects to be white or not, they aren't the type of white people that liberals like David Siroda were hoping they would be.

Left wingers wanted these terrorists to be blond haired, blue eyed right wingers from the south so they could politicize the attacks and portray conservatives as extreme and violent. Networks like MSNBC were foaming at the mouth over the possibility.

Unfortunately for them, these scumbags were Muslim as expected.

I'd rather for it to have been a "regular" white guy.

The govt loves using whatever it can to ratchet up new laws and restrictions against us citizens due to "terrorists", or worse it's another lazy excuse to go back to war. At least if it was a white guy, they'd look the other way and just let him sit in a courtroom for a year before putting him on trial.

The (white) guy in Colorado killed more ppl than this and he's all but forgotten at the moment.

Unless you're engaging in this pathetic back and forth blame game (most of this board does, unfortunately) you should be hoping for the good of everyone that its an American white guy every time simply because it will result in the least amount of social and legal backlash.

You can write an article about the discrepancies on terrorism is treated when it comes from right-wing militia types vs. Islamic terrorists, and white skin privilege without wishing that the perpetrator of this attack was white and titling the article after that. You think the US was going to declare war on another country if the Boston marathon bomber had been Arab? You think people don't care about the Aurora shooting and that the reason is because the shooter is white?

Reading thru this thread, it would seem that most share my sentiment. I guess we're all stupid, expect you....the smart white guy. Never heard that before.

I didnt say nobody cared about the Aurora shooting....but I am saying it's not on 99% of ppls radar....outside of maybe that area in Colorado. And like I said, he killed way more people than these "terrorists"

If either of these two young men in Boston were linked to Al Qaeda or some other 'cell', we'd be much more pro-active towards that in the near future than we will on domestic issues perpetrated by American white males.....and pro-active for us means possibly another war, or at least a war-like operation. "War is good for business", right? *sarcasm*
