Dennis has been the MVP so far this season, the 5 star rating last week to the level of craziness he displayed at Dee in this episode :wow:.

Mac's explanation about Psycho Pete being fun crazy, then the devil took over and made him evil crazy, then the meds took over :mjlol:

Frank explaining how he and Frog kid got captured by a giant net

Dee: Did you grow up in a cartoon :dwillhuh:

This episode was so real and poignant and I can't believe that a comedy show was able to go in so hard on the stigma against mental illness in 22 minutes. I was blown away, I cannot believe how thoughtful this episode was. Highlights:

  • "It's actually really sad, but once your brain's a piece of shyt, it's always a piece of shyt." Something anybody with a mental illness can relate to hard right off the bat. Let's go in.

  • Dennis and Dee talking about the government prioritizing fancy football stuff over necessary mental health facilities, a hilarious scene pointing out a real ass problem.

  • They gave Dennis a real diagnosis that makes canonical sense with his character and did not just write him off as a 'psycho.' Great character development, still managed to be funny, it was so perfect. Back in the like season 5 commentaries they brought in Dr. Drew to try to unpack Dennis's mental health issues and possible trajectory for the character's mental state and it seems like they've really taken a lot of those ideas to heart and developed them over the years. You can tell they've put a lot of thought into what he's dealing with specifically.

  • Pete! Holy shyt as someone with anxiety and depression did I love and relate to this character. His confessions about the meds causing him to gain weight, that he was only a danger to himself, that he had to deal with people calling him "psycho" and "crazy" anyway, that he just wanted to interact with people who liked him. Very real, and his character was a great way to frame the episode and give Charlie & Mac a hilarious storyline.

  • Frank's super chill reaction to being delusional was a great addition.

  • The gang heartlessly sending away someone just trying to get help and connect with them as other people were doing the same thing to somebody else. shyt. I want to show this episode to every person with mentally ill friends or family.

  • And of course Mac's comments about his "urges," the goblins/ghouls/demons discussion, the attempt at exorcism, everything Rickety Cricket said, the singing along to Psycho Killer-- they crammed in so much.
The creators did their goddamn homework on this one and it really paid off.

took me a minute to recognize that single shot scene but yo...this shyt was top notch! Can't say much else. I'm not checking every single comedy on tv but I feel that I can say for certain that absolutely nothing is fukking with this show. Or maybe I'm just really high. LOL!
