As long as you stay clean and avoid drugs getting job at the shipyards is easy. This isn't an understatement either. VA as a state is great (mostly Northern Virginia near DC), Norfolk is trash. Traffic is terrible here because of the military bases and accidents are fairly common. Virginia Beach is where I hang out at on the weekends since there's nothing to do in Norfolk.
