Let’s establish this now: Does this season count?

Does the ring won in 2020 count the same as others?

It does, but differently (insert juelzing gif).

Meaning of course once everyone is on the court, competing, fighting etc to win the games, then obviously it does count. But with the 3 month layoff that totally changes all kinds of dynamics (injured players coming back, some players will be out of rythm, teams that were getting in their groove might now lose it, etc) added to the fact that home-court advantage doesnt exist anymore and that players will no longer have to take into account playing in a hostile/friendly atmosphere, I'd be lying to myself if I said it counts just as much as any other NBA season.

There's going to be questions if the winner doesn't defend it

If Giannis wins it, and he loses next year or something.... people gonna say he can't face playoff pressure.

If the Clippers win it, people will say they got lucky with load management.

The Lakers are the exception.... Lebron is so old you cant expect him to defend a title.

As a Bucks fan, I like our chances more for a couple reasons. Giannis doesn't have to deal with a hostile crowd. Plus, his shooting percentage was much higher in the 1st half of the season. he hit a bit of a slump. Give him that reset button and Giannis will be hitting 3s :wow:

Yeah it counts. All of the teams are dealing with the same situation, no one is getting an unfair advantage except perhaps the #1 seeds since there is no home court. Itll be interesting to see the energy levels of guys like Bron or Kawhi in particular being as theres no actual traveling thats going to be going on.

Only thing that'll make it an asterisk type season is if somebody consequential catches the covid DURING the playoffs and then can't play going forward.

Wouldn't that hold true for the statement you just made :ohhh:

Anyways.... Yea... Don't go home and tell your mom about the coli's decision. We just talking about for future reference when nikkas get to lying and making excuses down the line. We'll have this thread to pull up

this is dumb as hell though

just because you nerds don’t want a certain team to win means y’all don’t decide if it “counts” or not.

the whole world shut down for something we’ve never experienced before. Be happy y’all are getting sports back in the first place

With no fans and 3 months off, you have to question how authentic this ring is. Playing without a crowd will be a HUGE advantage for some players and a disadvantage for others.
This. There will be zero pressure in these games. Some of these scrubs or busts will be playing like hall of famers. That’s what separates stars and scrubs is the crowd and pressure

Lebron will shoot 95 percent from the free throw line

the finals will feel like a Saturday morning pickup game

With those saying it won't count if a player catches COVID, how is that different from any other playoff injury/suspension?

If I said at the beginning of thee season that records won't count, because there will be no home court in the playoffs, and almost every team has a chance to make the playoffs, no matter their record, and I will hand pick those teams for the playoffs...would you think the playoffs counted?

then how come Lebron's free throw percentages in the playoffs are not worse than his regular seasons' percentages?

Was there an asterisk when the Warriors beat that Cavs without Kyrie and Love?

No but they were out due to injury which is a natural part of the game and sport. To be physically able and willing to play but not allowed because you have a novel virus is different. Especially if it involves the biggest and most important player on the respective team.

Wasn’t talking about regular season vs playoffs. Was talking about no fans making it no pressure. Shaq makes 95 out of 100 free throws in practice. Once there’s a crowd he shoots 40 percent

nba needs to quarantine about 10k healthy nba fans and keep them locked in Disney World and bring them as a crowd for these games because I cant get jiggy with this no crowd or fake noise proposal. It's working in Bundesliga football only because soccer pitches are big and doesn't have to rely to much on fan noise.
