Sanders wanted everyone to bend the knee. Either at the start, or after he won the nomination. He had no interest building bridges or coalitions - even less so with black politicians, apparently. Granted, the party was gonna try to pit one person against him eventually...that was inevitable. But by not even trying to build coalitions or make nice with democrats, he put himself in the worst possible position and got exposed. It's the democrat party. It's full of democrats. You don't think winning some of them over matters? His entire approach made zero sense and now it's game over.

I'm fine with Biden debating on Sunday. But after Florida this is over. Obama should seriously consider stepping in at that point. Either with an endorsement, or with some type of behind-the-scenes moves. Knowing how Obama operates, it'll be the latter. He should reach out to both campaigns and say ok this is over, it's time to band together. You have no mathematical way forward, all you can do from here on out is waste time and hurt the presumptive nominee.

What went wrong?

He lost.

I have a question though. Was his strategy really to remain at 30% and hope the moderates split the vote so he would win?
Worked for Trump in the Republican primary.

Caymans, bytch!
This "he didn't build a coalition" talking point is so dishonest. He built the most diverse multi-racial working class coalition of any of the campaigns. The only factor that overpowered him was the entire media apparatus and all the other major candidates magnetizing to Biden. Basically, they needed EVERYTHING to beat Bernie. And they still haven't done it. It isn't over.

:mjlol: but...but how are we going to pay for it all. Easy, a dummy at the fed created a trillion out of thin air to protect the billionaires. Trickle down they said. How about trickle up, give 10k to stay at home for 3 months to everyone.

But..but.. I'll lose my $15/hr insurance job...i need to please my billionaire zaddy...i need to go to work so i could get the coronavirus and pay zaddy another 300k in hospital bills on top of their bailouts.
Warren had a plan to pay for it.

Bernie's team trashed her for it.

Well they were in competition what should he have said. I support her? No he was leading the race. Stop spreading fake propaganda Bernie came out with his plan later on. I don't understand what you are arguing for here Bernie and Warren are more or less the far left and the same candidate. You obviously not a true supporter of the left progressive given you probably support Biden out of spite and supported Hilary last year. But looking back at it I am actually very glad none of the progressive candidates did well because there's no W coming out of this situation given what's going on with COVID and the economy.

He is either losing or tying with Biden for the white working class. He lost every county in Michigan and Missouri and that doesn't happen if he had broad based appeal. He has also lost rural whites in Iowa and New Hampshire. The problem he has is that he is dominant among young voters but not anywhere else, the support starts dropping with each successive age group, 18-29 is fine , 30-44 you see the gaps shrinking and by 45 and above he is about running even.
