I guess its the low-hanging fruit concept....find the sweet spot of effort versus payoff.

No more of this silly bullshyt of "I want to make something good, that people will genuinely appreciate and remember," or "I want to make something with real artistic value." Nope. Aim only as high as you need to in order to generate a good revenue stream, and then see how much lower that bar can go without causing problems - Networks these days

Yeah, and entertainment is suffering from it as a whole. I heard that TV viewers are also down cause of that shyt.

It's easy to produce reality TV. It literally costs a fraction compared to creating new programming with actors. It's not that people wouldn't watch drama/comedy. They do. But if networks see that they can get the same number of eyeballs on shyt that costs a lot less that's what they are going to do..

Blame the 18-34 crowd which we are all in. We are the target audience for all programming these days because we are the ones that are going to buy the products in the advertisements. It's mostly women, though.. I have never seen a guy discuss Kardashians, Duck Dynasty, etc..

You probably right breh....It seems to me like that writer's strike was the start of the huge trend.....Normal shows became expensive because you have to pay writers and professional performers etc & well Reality TV is dirt cheap by comparison. Regardless I refuse to watch any of that shyte on principle


I guess we're a bunch of voyeuristic & narcissistic types. We love to see the problems of other people to mitigate our own problems.


P.s: They really need to pump the reward for that survivor show up.

It was impressive when it started but nowadays you can win a million dollars just spinning a wheel against only 2 other people

I don't watch reality tv cause I know that shyt is fake as fukk, yes nikka all them shows fake as fukk but it is escapism that is why people watch.

i don't watch reality tv at all.. none of those competition shows either..

but i caught a couple episodes of moonshiners randomly and i couldn't turn that shyt off..

then i found out it was scripted and i never watched it again.

but if the person either doesn't know it's scripted.. or is willing to ignore that fact.. then i can see how all that "real life" fukkery would entertaining.

but people are voyeurs.

dudes got their hard knocks and sports.. espn.. the media and its fabricated storylines for drama.. the jonathan martin story.. this is just the jocks version of reality tv. sports is a LOT of gossip shyt. when will this coach get fired.. is this player 100% back mentally.. alfred morris drives a 91 nissan.. etc.

there's youtube for nerds.. is reality tv any worse than youtube? worldstar?

tv isn't here to educate the masses. it's just entertainment.

Reality tv is actually starting to die down now.Its nowhere near as popular as it was 8-10 years ago

I remember for a good 6 year stretch I didnt watch anything but sports because 95% of all new shows was reality shows

These last 3 years or so tv has been getting back on track producing some good shows

I haven't watched reality TV since about 2006-07. shyt just got out of control. Next thing you knew, EVERY new show coming out was a reality show. It just got too superficial and annoying and i hated all the cast within them.
