Just curious: would it ever be possible to mimic the idea of over-the-air TV reception to build some sort of public Wi-Fi network? Looking at old-style antennas, whether from the home or broadcast stations got me wondering about any engineering/designing prospects...:smugdraper:

One of the biggest problems with this is that we're running out of frequencies to broadcast. Seems like everything runs under 2.4, tv, wi-fi, your fridge and microwave, tons of stuff. We need more frequencies in order to make this happen. It's feasible as-is, but yea that's a hurdle, 5Ghz may take care of it, but its just not mature enough yet.

I think where this thread got thrown off is people started talking about their own speeds. I expect most of to have decent speed. But there are way more out there who have slow unreliable internet with no way of upgrading bc of infrastructure. shyt most people can't even get near 10 mb/s dl speeds. Lets talk about that.

I imagine you're not the only one on the line either. But verizon dsl.
