I can't co-sign copping all games new like some people in here.

Quite frankly, it's a waste of money unless you're really getting the most out of that game and putting tons of hours into it. I used to buy all my stuff brand new, but when I sat back and realized how much bread I spent, I just shake my head.

If games jump up to 69.99 I know I won't be buying that many of them that's for sure. I'll prioritize what I know I'm going to play the most and get those titles. The ones I'm on the fence about, won't be getting copped, and since there potentially won't be a used game market... who's to say that we'll see price drops as soon as we do now?

Used games just aren't that big of a bargain anymore. Game sales are rampant.

Problem is the marketplace for consoles will be a monopoly. I'm not convinced.

And used games are not bad for the industry when I used to sell my games back it was usually to buy new games.

That's what I'm thinking. When you monopolize the market you don't have to worry about price competition. Jack the price up or keep it the same as long as you want whenever you want.

And gamers ain't going to do shyt about it but buy the games anyway. See how this gen was buttfukked by DLC? shyt is highly unpopular with gamers if that shyt ain't free. Yet with all the bytchin' and cryin' about paid DLC, it's still being down out the ass. :yeshrug:

you guys are way too pessimistic about all of this shyt lol

If not enough people are paying full price a flash sale followed by a price drop is inevitable.

The majority of games I've bought this gen have been on sale. I don't even buy most games at launch anymore because I know a sale on it is likely to come a few weeks later :yeshrug:

But yeah I don't think I've bought a used game this gen. What I have done is sell games to help get a new one. And that's why banning used games would affect me.

If games go up to $70, I would quit gaming. Hell, the $60 is too much as it is already.

I don't see how anyone can co-sign the ban of used games. It's pure greed from these fukken companies. If this shiit happens, I hope anonymous hack the shiit out of these greedy fukks.

Again, I know its tough since I am bringing up the PC again. But I am willing to put money down that L.A. Noire (which is on a daily deal right now) will drop to $14.99 for the regular edition and $19.99 for the complete package really soon. The market has told rockstar that they won't pay $20 or $30 for L.A. Noire anymore and they are testing to see who bites @ the current price they have it at.

this this this times a milli :salute:

because the companies control the hardware, they can effectively block pirating 100%. which means that the games will sell for their TRUE worth, and developers like naughty dog will be rewarded for putting out a great game.

this is the best thing to happen to gaming in a long time, i can only hope it happens.

it is economics 101, in a vaccuum.

people saying, "never ever in a million years would i pay x amount of dollars for that game :childplease:" now no longer have to, and developers WONT be able to charge that if they want to recoup their losses. (although, more than likely it will be sony that sets the price point, but lets just assume its the devs, for the sake of keeping this brief.)

people say: "the market is too homogenous, i hope there are more good GAMES next gen, no more call of duty."

well, people buy call of duty new, every year, to play with their friends. that model is incredibly successful, because stand-alone, single player experiences have been relegated to "ill wait until thats 15$ and get it used" status. (see: me with rayman origins, el shaddai, la noire, skyrim, etc.)

as it stands, companies are leery of putting out those stand-alone, single player experiences, because they know that the only people making money out of that is the f*cking middle-man, mom and pop record shop, that sells it 5-6 times over.

so its either:

pay 20$ instead of 15$ for a single player experience game that you buy online, but cant resell... however you will have hundreds and hundreds more games to choose from (like the return of jak and daxter, ratchet, sly, etc.)

OR

pay 15$ instead of 20$ for a single player experience game that you buy at a used game store, and have 3 games to choose from next gen, while call of duty 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 are released in 6 month windows.

come on man, stop fearing this process--heres hoping sony and microsoft just say "for the sake of your gaming experience, im sorry, but were going to have to charge you for that game :yayo:"

lol.

no man, thats not how it works.

its NOT a monopoly, because nintendo and microsoft exist.

can they collude? possibly. but this isn't exactly mass-consumer extortion were talking about here.

a video game is like, 50$ online, i wouldnt say youre on the wrong end of a bernie maddoff scheme.

lets say a company spends 3 million to make a game, they price it on the store at 60$, and they make 1.5 million back.

the market has spoken... no one else is going to buy the game at 60$. so they can either sit on their 1.5 MILLION dollar loss, or they could drop the price 10$ and see who bites. then drop it 10 more. then drop it 10 more. and on and on.

if YOURE buying games used, YOU have established a price point in your head that YOU think a game is worth. YOU can now wait until the game costs that much ONLINE, and buy it. and you know what, that's going to be on the developers terms now, yes thats true, but f*ck it, thats fair. i mean, they ARE the one selling the product you want to buy. if you want it sooner, pay more money.
