Why does everybody act like Qui-Gon was this great Jedi? As far as I can see the whole situation is basically his fault.

Mace: Don't train that nikka, he's dangerous, he might turn to the dark side :wtb:
Yoda: Train that nikka do not, dangerous he is, turn to the dark side he might:wtb:

Obi-Wan: Low key I think they're right :wtb:

Qui-Gon: It's my dying wish, yall gotta honor it :shaq2:

Yoda and Mace: :beli:

Anakin (15 years later): *turns to the dark side, wipes out the Jedi, spends the next few decades oppressing the galaxy and helping the Empire commit mass murder*

Seems to be like the galaxy would've been much better off if Yoda and Mace ignored Qui-Gon and gave Anakin the :camby:
Sidious was going to win anyways, anakin essentially jumped on the bandwagon

A prophecy by whom? When? What does bringing balance mean when there’s 1000 Jedi and 2 Sith? I better get out of here before I get pissed :heh:

Exactly, the Sith weren't even in power at the time, and Qui-Gon never gave any good reason as to why they even needed a "chosen one".

Dude basically doomed the galaxy by being superstitious. :snoop:

I honestly forgot why Qui-Jon had such an attachment to Anakin in the first place. Was it that he sensed his potential and just HAD to train him? Always seemed kind of flimsy.

the “prophecy” of one who would bring balance to the Force would seem like something that would require more qualifications than just a high Midcholorian count.

Anyways i’d say that Anakin’s fate was always a self fulfilling prophecy. The Jedi perhaps NEEDED to be humbled because they’d lost their way and were already a group of hypocrites. All that “don’t fall in love” bullshyt but its been shown that damn near EVERY Jedi of note has fallen in love at least once, some were even out there smashing on the low. But Anakin wants to get a honey dip and its the end of the fukking world:gucci:

Also like another poster said, allowing Anakin to get too close to Palpatine was stupid as fukk. Any idiot who spent more than ten minutes with him would’ve known that Anakin desperately wanted a father figure. Obi-Wan treated him more like a brother and the others on the council treated him like an annoyance. Palpatine was the ONLY one who gave him fatherly advice and didn’t judge him for actually liking women.

So i’d say it was a combination of things. Qui-Jonn, Obi-Wan, Palpatine, Anakin himself, Yoda, Mace, and the Jedi philosophy itself all contributed to what happened

Being a Jedi isn't just about being powerful, that kind of thinking is exactly why Anakin didn't deserve a spot on the council. He was in no way entitled to a spot on the council just because he was a good fighter.

Even if he was stronger than Yoda, he's still an entitled, emotionally unstable 22 year old that's prone to making terrible decisions and doing things behind the Jedi's back (like getting married to a politician and having a kid, potentially creating a political scandal). Fact of the matter is that they thought he was untrustworthy because he WAS untrustworthy. That automatically disqualifies him from the council regardless of his force powers.

The Jedi Council was flawed but Anakin is responsible for his own actions. If he didn't like the council he could've just left. Nobody made him murder a bunch of kids and terrorize the galaxy. I don't like this idea that Anakin's actions are everybody else's fault but his own. Being mad at the council doesn't come close to justifying all the terrible shyt he did.

this.

all this deflection. Instead of holding anakin accountable.

accountability

the lack of it everywhere is the beginning issue everywhere.

Qui-Gon doesn't find Anakin. No Vader throwing Palpatine down shaft. No victory at Endor.

Even in the craptacular Abrams Star Wars, Smoke said as much. If Palpatine never had Vader as an apprentice, he would have destroyed the Rebellion for good.

Anakin was conceived by the force..... the Force is his father......Anakin is the chosen one.......not Palpatine, not Yoda, not Windu, not Kenobi, not even Luke and Leia. Qui gon was more skilled than Yoda and taught Yoda and Obi wan how to communicate from the afterlife.

#Qui Gon was right

Quigon sucking is the whole basis for the prequels. You get cues the whole move that Obi Wan surpassed him already, but his shytty teaching sets Obi-Wan up for failure. "I sense Quigon's defiance in you" or whatever.

TPM: Quigon is a talented, but refuses to follow the teachings. Learns a new skill in the process but fukks up his prized pupils head
AotC: Obi-Wan can't get over jealousy of Anakin (he was supposed to have next after killing Maul and here comes another talented, undisciplined pupil) because he was poorly taught. Dooku even takes a shot a turning him. Conflict with his pupil makes Anakin vulnerable.
RotS: Obi-Wan finally makes peace and accepts being a teacher rather than in competition with Anakin. He saves himself, but it's too late for Anakin.

I never understood where the whole "The Jedi order failed" trope came from since the whole reason Anakin gets turned originates with a Jedi straying from his teachings.

I'm not so sure Order 66 would be successful without Anakin.
