Good debate in here
Although if anything, Qui-gon was the change the jedi needed but refused to accept. You have a cadre of dogmatic warrior-priests who are stuck in their thinking, refuse to adapt, and for all of their force talents are incapable of versatility in their training/teaching methods. How arrogant do you have to be to tell yourself that the "child of prophecy", who outstrips every last one of you in potential and skill, can be trained using the same standard methods? How do you not humble yourself and say "this is beyond us, we need a different approach here"? How do you not at least consider the unconventional?
And that's the feeding ground a Sith like Palpatine thrives in...the unconventional.
If anything the regular jedi-padawan relationship shouldn't have been Anakin's path, he should have had several different teachers to give him balance...especially in dealing with his recklessness and emotional instability in general. From Kit Fisto to Quinlan Vos, give him the full range of teachings/teachers to help him find his balance.
