naruto was VERY good from jump, but has never recaptured that vibe... ever. I'd say it peaked at the Invasion of Konoha and hasn't had anything close.. and that was almost 10 years ago. (few fights here and there were pretty good, none included the main character though)
OP starts out very average, and becomes/remains very good.
the only series that can come close to it for as long a time is HxH, and that author drives himself mad trying to keep it consistent and has to take years off.
Oda has been creating a masterpiece a week at a time for over a decade.
Yeah.
Naruto has a great start (although looking back now the ridiculousness of a numerous events set a bad tone for the rest of the series), but unless you are a massive fanboy that's satisfied with the most basic fanservice it has absolutely fallen off.
It's like this...One Piece isn't perfect. There are plenty of flaws in the series and at its worst it's fairly boring, repetitive and disappointing (mainly off screen, sometimes inconclusive fights). Some random, nonsensical asspulls, but not enough that breaks the series. Some people also say it can be too busy/chaotic and its hard to tell what's going on. I don't necessarily agree but I see where they're coming from.
Naruto at its worst is logically insulting, damn near breaks central themes of the series, contains too many random asspulls, destroys dramatic tension, changes characters actions and mentality to their detriment and renders side characters completely and utterly irrelevant. It's also amazing how predictable it becomes when you assume the worst case scenario. I remember reading on
how everyone was excited about the war and salivating over the matchups and who would wind up dying...but I had a feeling that it wouldn't amount to shyt and not many of relevance, if anybody, would die on the good side. Now look what happened.
AND I BET YOU Tsunade isn't gonna die either even after everything that's happened.
There are still some positives to the series but the glory days of the series have been long gone, replaced by something that would rather focus on cliffhangers, powerups and Uchiha/Senju fanservice, logic be damned.
