50 Chapters??? I'm 50 Chapters in and One Piece still has'nt gotten hot breh

We can go down a plethora of manga series that don't take 50 chapters to get to a worthwhile plot point.

Stop it slime :stopitslime:

You won't find too many that are better than One Piece overall, if we keep it on Shonen manga. I've read plenty of manga that had a great start but the quality falls off a cliff later on. Personally I thought One Piece was just ok but after those 50 chapters (which I think is around the time when one of the most significant characters in the series is introduced) the quality continues to rise (for the most part) and now I consider it one of the best action/adventure shonen ever and still going strong.

But fukk all that you giving love to Fairy Tail over One Piece, you gotta be trolling, lmao.

For all I know FT does fall off if what you all are saying is true but it still does'nt take away from the fact that One Piece starts very slow

And telling me that it takes x amount of chapters to get hot kind invalidates it from ever being mentioned in the same breath as Naruto which was dope pretty much from the jump and has been

naruto was VERY good from jump, but has never recaptured that vibe... ever. I'd say it peaked at the Invasion of Konoha and hasn't had anything close.. and that was almost 10 years ago. (few fights here and there were pretty good, none included the main character though)

OP starts out very average, and becomes/remains very good.

the only series that can come close to it for as long a time is HxH, and that author drives himself mad trying to keep it consistent and has to take years off.

Oda has been creating a masterpiece a week at a time for over a decade.

fairy tail is a blatant copy of one piece and it isnt even good :childplease:

one piece starts slow ok, but when it does it remains an undeniable constant classic

you know why one piece isnt spoken in one sentence with naruto and others?

its because naruto and others doesnt deserve to be compared to GOAT one piece

Fairy Tail is the generic shounen series. its good enough to follow but not top tier. it doesn't really stray from the beaten path. i mean its a solid series for that very reason but it will never be anything more that just solid. starts out good enough, decent cast, large cast, ok fights, your typical shounen cliches.

its almost disrespectful to mention a pioneer series like One Piece in the same breath as Fairy Tail.

one series i think maybe people should check for is Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. its a series of light novels though and it too like Fairy Tail is sort of a generic series but Horizon takes a lot of risk Fairy Tail probably never would. The story is also ridiculously complicated. so much so that its a hindered to getting into it. there's an anime that's very poorly rated on anidb for that reason. its like One Piece in that it doesn't start out great but i feel like as it goes on it really picks up.

Yeah.

Naruto has a great start (although looking back now the ridiculousness of a numerous events set a bad tone for the rest of the series), but unless you are a massive fanboy that's satisfied with the most basic fanservice it has absolutely fallen off.

It's like this...One Piece isn't perfect. There are plenty of flaws in the series and at its worst it's fairly boring, repetitive and disappointing (mainly off screen, sometimes inconclusive fights). Some random, nonsensical asspulls, but not enough that breaks the series. Some people also say it can be too busy/chaotic and its hard to tell what's going on. I don't necessarily agree but I see where they're coming from.

Naruto at its worst is logically insulting, damn near breaks central themes of the series, contains too many random asspulls, destroys dramatic tension, changes characters actions and mentality to their detriment and renders side characters completely and utterly irrelevant. It's also amazing how predictable it becomes when you assume the worst case scenario. I remember reading on :hamster: how everyone was excited about the war and salivating over the matchups and who would wind up dying...but I had a feeling that it wouldn't amount to shyt and not many of relevance, if anybody, would die on the good side. Now look what happened. :beli: AND I BET YOU Tsunade isn't gonna die either even after everything that's happened.

There are still some positives to the series but the glory days of the series have been long gone, replaced by something that would rather focus on cliffhangers, powerups and Uchiha/Senju fanservice, logic be damned.

Hanamichi Sakuragi DA GAWD :lawd:

The two best examples, because they actually play the idiot, know-nothing hero stereotype straight and actually reveals it's flaws.

ESPECIALLY the back half of Yu Yu Hakusho. Chapter Black is essentially Togashi telling the audience, "Hey, this shyt doesn't really work" in regard to Yusuke's lack of a gameplan. Dude should have died 3 times due to going off half-cocked against threats he knew nothing about (Against Kido, against Sniper and then when he actually died against Sensui) and then the whole demon realm thing ended in a complete failure since Sensui had everything planned out to a T, and THEn you realize that it really meant nothing, because they were STILL completely in the dark about what demons were all about.

And then there was the Demon Realm Tournament, which is basically the story of how a shounen hero threatens the very existence of two realms, gets in way over his head and completely lucks out. All because Yusuke doesn't know what to do to solve problems other than fight them out.

Togashi basically made the idiot hero obsolete, then made it relevant again in Hunter x Hunter.
