Yall missing the point. I'm not even a Christian, but to downplay the importance and significance the role the black church played in the civil rights movement, And the black community in general, shows great disrespect to the people who lost there lives, homes, businesses in the fight for equal rights.
to an extent it did but to an extent it didnt some things it did were more harm than good
but we didnt know that till now. at first in large part, church was all we had and it built for us rather.
black masons built the churches and together they built the communities and stuff for us
civil rights was just what it sounds like getting african americans full citizenship rights. to be treated like full citizens of the united states of america nothing more. nothing less
truthfully we still do not have that and truthfully that should have never been the aim. some would argue
i think i'd argue that, too
but. to whatever degree that wasnt entirely what was wanted to begin with
but a meeting was had with major black leaders, most of them ministers.... and the kennedys and so on
and the white folks stressed that we'd only b successful if we tried to get the right to vote first and foremost and other citizenship rights
so that's the path that was taken
