I would insist you get the Rom and PS2 Emulator, I played both SH1 and SH2, and was not disappointed, Midway came out of left field, with probably one of the most whimsically epic games. They butchered it in SH3, but hey can't strike gold that many time I suppose.

Shadow Hearts 3 wasn't butchered, it just was a new story and some fans didn't like that. But the story was over from the previous. It's damn near a carbon copy just with a new cast and story. Game is great sound track and all.

Shadow hearts as a series is the best rpg series ever I can't even see how some people can call themselves rpg fans if they haven't played at least the first 2.
