Movie was trash because all of the leads weren't funny. The cartoon, Extreme Ghostbusters had a bisexual goth chick, hispanic dude, a dude in a wheelchair, and a regular breh...
A little too PC then, but it worked well and probably would fit perfectly for current times....

Kylie could have easily been Egon's daughter with a couple of script changes for a XGB adaptation.
Phoebe being the female lead was absolutely no problem in GB3 because they respected the source material and fleshed out the character.
