I dont know why you're getting emotional because some of us don't share you optimism.

What exactly stands out to you on this roster. Right now. That makes it a 50 win team?

I'm not emotional but some of you are unabashedly pessimistic.

As for what stands out on this roster: David Lee (former all star and current champion), Evan Turner (a versatile 3 with a penchant for triple doubles), Amir Johnson (an athletic and defensive-minded big man who has a chip on his shoulder), Avery Bradley (one of the best perimeter defenders in the league), Terry Rozier (an exciting prospect that doesn't need invitations to attack the basket), and Coach Stevens who, by his 3rd year, has already cemented himself as one of the best coaches in the league. We may not be contenders and we may not have a flashy roster but we have a collection of guys who want to play, who want to win, and who fight tooth and nail every night. And they're only getting better individually and as a team. How can you not respect those guys? How can you not root for those guys?

Add in the fact that the East is notoriously weal and that we'll likely have more stability this season and it's not farfetched at all to think that we can take 50 games this season. Look at what the Bucks did last season.

Breh you're getting all huffy and puffy cuz the rest of us dont think its a 50 win team.

It's not about being pessimistic, we're just not counting our chickens before they hatch and you're getting all red in the face because we're not as hopeful. Let us have our own opinions and you can have yours. Stop acting like a child because people disagree with you.

Nobody has said ANYTHING about not rooting for this team. We're all fans so don't try to spin that shyt as in we're not supporting the team. The Bucks are a completely different animal. They have a solid team built. We have a compilation of a bunch of players just thrown together. We've got a ton of guards who can't shoot, and a ton of PF's who cant block shots or defend. Amir Johnson when healthy can do a job, but that's rarely the case.

So again..it's fine that you wanna be touting supreme optimism, but some of us are more grounded in reality. Do you fam, but don't try to get pissy because we don't agree.

I haven't been getting pissy though.

Again, you can believe what you want and I'll believe what I want and we'll see what happens. But there's no need to be negative before the season has even begun.

That's all I'm saying and this is the last thing I have to say in this discussion.

:mindblown:

:heh: nikkas can't be pessimistic about a team we support making a bunch of lateral moves?

Well okay then.

Uncertain grounds
We'll be more or less the same tier of a team that we were last season except somehow the frontcourt will be even softer.

I agree with the former (likely to be better though), except we couldnt get softer so thats moot. :yeshrug:

No we won't. We'll be the same team that we were this past season except even softer. Will be bounced in the 1st round again and will strike out on every free agent again. We're in a fukking terrible spot. Yeah we have youth, but no players that have high potential, we have cap space but nobody wants to come here.

Just directionless at this point

We have to make more trades, we simply dont have the room, so Ill wait on softer. We might get to round 2 if we get lucky in the draw. Brad should improve the team overall. Not 24-12 good since the break but good. Nets will be awful, Knicks will be awful, Sixers will be awful. Only really competing with Toronto. I doubt we win 50 but could be around 44 +/- 3, which could be good enough for the division.

I agree with cap space and potential argument. I said a while back that we are Utah/Mil status. Gotta overpay, hence my hopes for Tobias. I think our legacy hurts us with this generation, as seen by NYK and LAL. These guys dont want to continue a legacy, they want to start one. Taxes kill us, NYK and LAL and there is next to no need for a big market anymore with social media etc. Getting Durant is a pipedream..only 1% chance we have is Danny and his mom being friends and maybe he gets sold on Stevens instead of Wittman. Hes probably WAS or OKC though, clearly.

Young hasnt proved anything. Smart is unlikely to be a cornerstone. Thomas is our guy. Other than that its good depth. Things could be worse. Like I said, our biggest chance at a star is through the BK picks..in a distant 2nd/3rd is a Boogie or Love implosion in current situations.

But for now, you gotta look at this trade in a vacuum. Again, was there any possible better move than Lee for Wallace? Lee is better than KO, more reliable than obese Sully, and Wallace didnt even see the court. :manny:

And FWIW, there is room for criticism and skepticism. No need for everyone to drink Kool-Aid here. Its disingenuous and stupid.

What the hell are you guys complaining about? This is why I don't fukk with the offseason thread all that much. Lee is a huge upgrade if we keep him for the year. Maybe we use him, maybe we trade him.. either way there is value in the move. Wallace was a fukking corpse rotting away at $10M. Lee is only signed through this season at $15M which if you've looked around you would see is pretty much the going rate, not too far from it for a guy who can get his and rebound. It has ZERO affect on next year's cap.

Also, Crowder for the whole year, Thomas for the whole year, Amir Johnson. Maybe Lee. The team has improved and is still setup to do something trade wise.

So that's a no?

Evan Turner is a good player. But you can think what you want and I'll believe what I want.

But this thread doesn't need your or @SchoolboyC 's negativity. Either support the Celtics, be patient, or GTFOH.

so we're gonna act like Jae Crowder doesn't exist? Don't be surprised if he makes the jump this year, Stevens gonna give him the opportunity. Most improved player, Jae Coming for ya...

I think the problem is(at least for me) is that it's a lateral move. A bandaid if you will. Granted, yes, he will put up some decent numbers, which is an upgrade over Crash's corpse. The big thing that you mentioned is the cap value. That's all i see it as.

My gripes are just with spinning the wheels. :manny:

I feel like this team has done nothing this offseason.

Nothing that will noticeably improve the team, nothing that will make the team worse. Just there. In the same spot. Which is middle of the pack, going nowhere.

Just a bunch of lateral moves on top of more lateral moves with Ainge trying to spin like he has some elaborate plan, when he really doesn't.

I would rather we completely suck and try our luck in the lottery than grab moral victories which ultimately leave us in limbo

It's good for the team in the short term and POSSIBLY really good in the longterm if they can put together the right amount of players + money + picks to land someone. I'm having doubts about Ainge ever landing the guy(s) we need BUT you can see what he's trying to do.

If he fails then obviously :camby: he's gotta go...

He's comparing us to the Bucks but the difference between us and the Bucks is they actually have a future. They have guys that have potential to be stars. All we have is role players.

Would you rather have Jabari, Giannis, Middleton, Vaughn & Henson or Smart, Rozier, Olynyk, Mickey & Hunter?

Problem is..we've been like "yeah trust Danny" etc

But at this point we're just like "whatever breh, do whatever"

Right now all we can see is that he's holding on to draft picks and "possibly" angling for some trades.

nikkas just fed up is all
