He is getting paid. He's challenged himself, passed with flying colors every time. Has he challenged himself in his last two bouts? Not in my opinion.
There's no one size fits all analogy to making it rich in this sport. "Fight the best and you'll get paid", no. Some fighters have a much easier route to success than others due to several factors, and if they're getting paid, all power to em. Today, I'm a bigger fan of the boxer than the sport that has done nothing but destroy men countless times for entertainment value. In the past I would've agreed with you and LB but I see things much differently now, and I realize that the "hardcore" fan of anything can never be satisfied. I'm not saying they're always wrong, but these are men with family and responsibilities we will never help them take on. Fans feel more entitled than ever to have everything their way, especially on the internet, but I just want to see these guys healthy and rich. Whatever route they take to this is up to them and I support them either way. Do I "like" every decision made, of course not, but I won't pretend like I wouldn't have my fighter do the same thing.
Pretending like sports glory is more important than the money is a facade. It's the selfishness of the supposed "fan" and media that pushes this imaginary agenda. They point fingers and get mad at the work horse for making smart decisions yet never seem to look the way of the owners and organizations that bleed and work these horses to the death with no remorse nor leniency. The only legitimate claims of unfair dodging was during the era when MY people (I'm assuming you're both white, apologies if I'm wrong), were not allowed to have marquee matches. In today's landscape, you have many options to taking control of your career and doing what's best for business, your business.
