Lena Dunham is praised as mega star by the media, but "Girls" weak TV ratings prove otherwise

Not just that. A lot of the places, locations, & people in the GoT/ASOIAF world are based on real-life Medieval/ancient times history. We've disscussed before it in the GoT Season 4 thread.
I don't understand are you trying to say that show is taking place in the past?

No, it's fictional. But a lot of the places, locations, & people in the GoT/ASOIAF world are inspired/based on real-life Medieval/ancient times history.

Some examples :

1. The North is inspired by Scotland

2. The Wall = Hadrian's Wall

3. Dorne is inspired by Spain/France.

4. the Ironborn are inspired by Vikings

5. The Dothraki are inspired by The Mongols.

6. Valyria is inspired by Ancient Rome

Mix the fact that the Dunham family has a powerful presence in NYC media and the decision makers at HBO love Lena's "in your face / advanced / white feminist" views, this looks to be one of those situations where HBO would rather cut off their nose to spite their face keeping the show on air despite it's pitiful ratings just to prove a point.

No I haven't played wow, just shocked a show with that subject matter seems to be one of the most popular shows on TV, on some stream sites I go on, they have a chart and GoT show is easily the most watched even though its not airing new episodes at the moment AFAIK, even more views than TWD.

Just surprising that such a "nerdy" show is so popular, IIRC, neither of the two Star Trek shows on during the late 90s was as popular, nor was Zena or Hercules, so shocked the thread on here about GoT does numbers, seems like the type of show posters on here would be embarrassed to admit they watch IRL, cause of the subject matter.

I remember someone made a thread in Seum and they was tempted to watch this live when one episode came on during the same time as the NBA Finals :wow:

Breh all due respect but you're wilding the fukk out.

I'm not even the biggest "Game Of Thrones" fan, but it has far more in common with "The Sopranos" or "The Wire" than "World Of Warcraft", "Xena", or "Hercules". Don't let the setting or accents fool you, "Game Of Thrones" is basically a chess match + naked women + horrific violence.

GoT = Most brutal show ever.
GoT = Empire levels of fukkery
GoT = The baddest of bishes gettin naked
GoT = Some of the greatest(and worst) chess moves of all-time.

If you aint up on GoT, imagine a show as well acted as any show ever that has a plot that has some of the biggest surprises and most hated villains ever. Put all of this with some of the greatest action scenes and probably the most violence that has ever been on TV. Add in one of the baddest stables of women ever assembled for one show, and they all get naked. I always say, no way a dude doesn't get in GoT. Just too much :blessed::gladbron::whoo::whew::ohlawd: going on.

I remember being sold on the show when someone told me it was like The Wire mixed with Lord of the Rings.

It has nothing to do with proving a point.

That's why the show stays on the air, it gets critical acclaim and awards.

Low ratings really don't mean shyt to them since the show is cheap as fukk to make.

Mad Men's ratings aren't that great, especially weren't in the beginning, but you stick with the show that winning Best Drama Emmy the first four years its on the air and gives your network credibility as someone that puts on quality programming.

Eh....I have no dog in this "Girls" fight but out of 4 seasons it's only won 8 awards, and a couple of them are for lesser categories like Casting and Directorial Achievement.

Since you mentioned "Mad Men", it's won 62 awards. That's a critically acclaimed show...."Girls" is just kinda there, from every angle. It's not particularly popular, or critically acclaimed, or rolling in awards.

but like others have mentioned her show is vastly considered overrated and over hyped due to the fact of who she is and not because of the quality of her show. awards have been thrown at her for all the wrong reasons.

Mad Men started off averaging around 1.50 million viewers in it's first couple of season and has consistently averaged over 2.00 million viewers every season after. It also has very similar ratings to Breaking Bad (until the second half of the BB final season when EVERYONE jumped on the bandwagon). so that's not a good example.

i know a couple people of already responded to you about this, but yea this show is nothing like "WoW". The "magic" that DOES eventually happen in the show is slowly being built from the very first episode. The last scene of season 1 was the dragons being born and the viewers knowing khaleesi had some type of magic to her since fire cant burn her. Thats part of the beauty of the show, everything just feels real and it feels like it can actually happen. Besides the magical elements, the show strives on the political side of things that just leaves you in awe, everyone is making brutal power moves to make sure their family/kingdom is safe.

Im sure i aint the only one that can agree to this, but its probably THE greatest and most complex WORLD someone has ever created...its fukking incredible.
