Lena Dunham is praised as mega star by the media, but "Girls" weak TV ratings prove otherwise

I never realized just how low the ratings are for Girls until recently looking them up.

Listed below are the television viewership ratings for Girls compared to other HBO shows. most shows with these type of poor ratings would have been cancelled after season 1 or season 2 at the latest. even with being on premium channels like HBO, Showtime, etc.

U.S. Viewer Average Per Season (millions)

Season 1 (2012): 0.86

compared to other HBO series for 2012,

True Blood: 4.67
Game of Thrones: 3.80
Boardwalk Empire: 2.32
The Newsroom: 1.95
Veep: 1.04
Eastbound & Down: 0.91
Girls: 0.86
Treme: 0.53 (cancelled the following year)

Season 2 (2013): 0.66 :mjlol:

compared to other HBO series for 2013,

Veep: 1.14
Eastbound & Down: 0.78 (cancelled)
Ja'mie: Private School Girl: 0.71 (cancelled)
Girls: 0.66
Family Tree: 0.50 (cancelled)
Hello Ladies: 0.50 (cancelled)
Enlightened: 0.22 (cancelled)

wish HBO woulda kept How to Make it in America instead of this trash

RASTAH MONSTAH!

the final season of How to Make It in America drew a weak 0.54 average rating, however Girls is doing the same thing right now in 2015. It has 4 episodes left this season and is currently pulling 0.59, yet like @FlyRy mentioned HBO already locked it in for season 5 :scust:

Eastbound & Down is another example. it had better ratings than Girls did in each of the two years they were on together yet HBO was quick to cancel Eastbound.

Season one and two were actually pretty funny

Season three was okay...

I only made it 4 episodes into the current season...shyt is just trash now...

Not sure how you take a show about nothing and somehow...make it worse...

Girls is trash but its a well known show and that's why its still on the air. I never heard anyone talk about about Treme outside of The Coli but I usually hear people talk about True Blood, Sopranos, Sex and The City, Eastbound and Down, and etc... and usually Girls is apart of that conversation.

Now if they brought back Hung for one more season for a proper ending... that red headed bytch was :takedat:

:whoo: @ The True Blood ratings. No idea the show was popping like that.

Hello Ladies was piff, show deserved a second season instead of that trash Girls :francis:

Hello Ladies was hilarious. I'm still mad they cancelled it, even with the finale movie. I was in for at least 3 more seasons of Stephen Merchant trying to bag a super model.

Girls isn't even in the same league, the episodes I've seen are all thrown together "shocking" ass eating type scenes aimed at giving their middle-aged-but-still-want-to-be-hip audience and network morning shows something to buzz about.

i would have been for a How To Make It In America/Girls double on a Sunday.

Girls was never going to get big ratings to be fair.
it's too much of a polarizing show..it's way easier for a show like it to have people hate it than it is like it.

Dunham status is mainly down to the fact she is young woman that can write, direct and had a critically acclaimed movie and tv series all around the age of 25 etc..helps that she comes from a wealthy background and all that shyt and she has a following.

I realized ol'girl isn't going anywhere. She has been hyped up ever since she was a kid.

Had New York Times articles about her when she was a teenager.

Having a guest spot on Scandal this coming week. :sas2:

I will :deadmanny: if she shows up on Empire. :russ:
