Sad to see one of the last great living jazz legends go. We only got a few left, Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock come to mind. Both great friends of Pharoah Sanders BTW.

I always recommend Ken Burn's Jazz documentary. I watched it years ago on PBS. If you wanna get into it, it's a great starting point.

Man, we lost a giant
On one hand, it’s of course a bit sad he’s passed on to whatever is next
On the other, it’s amazing that he lived so long as a lot of his peers weren’t so fortunate
We were blessed by his life and his music is his legacy for us all to enjoy
I’ma be listening to some of my favorite Pharoah records this week including Deaf Dumb and Blind, Black Unity, Love In Us All, Thembi, Karma, Africa, Rejoice, and that joint with Floating Points
What a contribution he made to the arts, spirituality, and humanity—hope y’all will take some time to appreciate him especially if you’re unfamiliar

What a loss. This hit me in my gut when I heard it. At the Sun Ra Arkestra concert a couple of weeks ago the leader Marshall Allen was out sick. Enjoy your legends while they are still here.
