Kobe's Game 7's post Shaq
2006 vs Suns: 24/4/1 8/16 3 TO's
2009 vs Rockets: 14/7/5 4/12 1 TO
2010 vs. Celtics: 23/15/2 6/24 4 TO's
2012 vs. Nuggets: 17/1/8 7/16 3 TO's
the number represents the level of defense they faced
For me, being called a great on-ball defender means consistent great defense...night in & night out. Yes, Kobe has many possessions where he has locked down an offensive player, even full games over the course of his career, but he's never done it on a consistent, nightly basis where I'd call him a great defender in the same vein as a Jordan or Pippen....or an Artest/Allen. Same with Bron.
I equate "great defenders" with lockdown defenders. That's just my opinion though
