You're right, Bron doesn't get a pass here under any conditions because he "broke" his hand himself. It'd be different if he got injured during the game.
Punching a board/wall is irresponsible and probably killed any small % chance they had to win the series.

No way for him to come out of it looking good regardless of when he decided to wear the cast.
