did LBJ ever lose in the 1st round tho :mjpls:

multiple times :mjpls:

did LBJ ever make the playoffs as an 8 seed with a 30-52 record :scust:

Still 6-0 in the Finals though breh.

It'll be a long time until we see back-to-back-to-back again. But Jordan did that twice.

Not holding anything against Lebron, but saying he needs 7-8 rings to really solidify himself as the greatest basketball player of all-time after taking a 4 Finals losses is more than fair.

welp. everyone gotta own it now. for years Lebron's detractors used Jordan to tear him down, LeBron's supporters got aggravated by why he was always compared to Jordan. now LeBron himself has said thats whats he's chasing.
Yep. All he needs is three more FMVP's.
What about coming back from 3-1 against the greatest regular season team of all time?
Counts for alot.

But MJ won 6 FMVP's and 3-peated twice. As amazing of a feat as LBJ pulled off, there's no amount of context to put what LBJ did on the same scale as what MJ did.

if rings are everything then :russell: is the GOAT

the finals mvp trophy is named after him

Not too many would draft Russell before Jordan or James though.

Jordan and James both have games that would dominate across eras.

Taking that into account, I'm choosing to focus on comparing what they've won.

We can talk different eras, zone defense in this era, better front courts to clog the paint in Jordan's, etc.

End of the day, they're very similar impactful players, so I think it's valid to start looking at their grand accomplishments.

Lebron even knows Jordan is the best, that's why he's chasing that.

Even if Lebron gets 6 rings though, Jordan never lost in the Finals.

Now if he were to get 8 rings, whole other story.

I've never understood the logic that it's better to not make the Finals at all than to make the Finals and lose. Jordan made the Finals six times in a fifteen year NBA career. Every year you don't make the Finals at all should be considered worse than a Finals loss. So that's nine years where Jordan was a loser.

Why does Bron have to get more rings than MJ if MJ never had to get more rings than Russell to be considered the GOAT ?

Bron has pulled off some things MJ never has and vice versa

Dallas 2011:mjpls:

:why:Do ya'll let anything go? I mean it's not like he has won 3 Chips since then and the lastest taking out the team many thought was the GOAT team, who had the best regular season EVER and were up 3-1 until LeBron and Kyrie willed their team to victory.

I mean why not bring up Jordan's struggles vs the Pistons in the late 80's if you are always gonna bring up LeBron in 2011?

It's weird how we move goalposts. First it's rings, then it's not. Then it's "generational players", people say that Wilt would be dominate right too, but then it's not.

Sounds like a bunch of opinions to me.

No disrespect.

Cleveland blitzed the Eastern playoffs and dissolved locker-room cliques, thanks in part to a new addition. Power forward Channing Frye, acquired from the Magic at the trading deadline, either didn’t know about the subgroups or didn’t care. He ate with everybody, included everybody on group texts, and dinner reservations expanded to 15.

@Art Barr

:jbhmm:

Let me help you....:ufdup:bron would have 9 championship rings if he didn't trade Wiggins.....:lolbron:

I think the point is that after this last achievement all he has left to chase is MJ.

End of the day, all of these discussions are opinions. Unless prime Jordan and Lebron play against each other, and we could get a final say, it'll all be theory and opinions because we'll never have a definitive head-to-head.

Which sounds like moving the goal posts again, but that's what all these discussions really are anyway. They're fun to get into and debate perspectives.

Otherwise it'll just be "Russell was the best." But I don't think that perspective is very satisfying personally. You could also just say "you can't compare players from different eras."

shyt, end of the day Lebron himself is chasing the ideal Jordan built. Even if Lebron got 6 rings it'll be 6-0 vs 6-4, and that most likely won't change the widespread ideal Jordan was the best. Now 8-4 probably would.

No that series should always get brought up. Jordan never had a series like that.

Those Pistons teams were way better than Dallas :mjlol:. Pippen was even still developing in those series whereas Lebron had prime Wade and Bosh:mjlol: Foh
