This is isn't shocking, he's been in business with the FSG since 2011. Back then he gave away parts of his marketing rights for a stake in Liverpool. My assumption is given that his deal is 10 years old, the contract probably had a buy in stake into the Red Sox after 10 years if they made x amount dollars. This isn't a new deal, but a continuation of his last deal.
