Yep. Single covering him was the primary defense used against him. I actually think it was more common to put a shytty defender on him to make hin greedy than it was to deny him the ball and force him to pass.

The double and triple teams the stans inexplicably speak so fondly of were rare and were usually only in situations where he was clearly taking the shot due to a declining clock and/or being unwilling to pass. Even then, it was really just defenders cheating and shading over to him and not multiple guys being assigned to him.

The "double and triple team him at all costs, force someone else to beat you" strategy was always encouraged by fakkit stans like Mark Jackson, Chris Webber, etc, but it wasnt utilized. Real opposing coaches wanted the Lakers offense to be based around Kobe taking long shots because it was a lower percentage play.

Well considering that pierce could be considered a great shooter from distance, that’s kinda obvious. He had 9 seasons shooting over 38% from distance with 3 of them going over the 40% mark while taking almost 5 threes per game for much of his career.

He’s also number 6 all time. He’s not that Ray Allen, Korver level shooter but he’s on another as a 3point compared to Kobe and Bron...
