Kobe was harder to defend.
Lebron is more efficient.
If that is true, then why does Kobe have such bad numbers in every Finals?

People still pretending Lebron is a good shooter when he barely took any jumpshots in the playoffs
LeBron has made 370 threes in his playoff career. Kobe only has 292. :mjlol:

LeBron averaged 34ppg while shooting 65% of his shots away from the basket this playoffs, pretty much the same as his career average. You're literally ripping on him for being smart enough to get to the rim when he can.

I mean even without context Kobe jump shooting is still better though :dead:

When you take away dunks and layups

Lebron - 37.6 percent
Kobe - 40.3 percent

When you use context and common sense you see that the gap is actually huge :russ:

I don't understand where #shortbusgang is coming from on this one. This is a new low, even for them.
That's a horrible comparison because LeBron takes relatively more threes compared to twos. You have to separate the twos from the threes to make a fair comparison.

And no one says that LeBron had a fantastic long-range two his whole career. His jump shot was suspect during his first stint in Cleveland, it really started peaking around 2012.

In Miami LeBron shot:

49.3% from 3-10 feet
43.9% from 10-16 feet
41.4% from 16-23 feet
36.9% from three

Find a four-year stretch from Kobe that's better than that. LeBron at his peak was better even in Kobe's sweet spot.

I was merely talking about his shooting%/ppg numbers. It was very Kobe-like in the fact that he shot sub 48% from the field. LeBron has had multiple all time great finals, and multiple finals where he's shot below his capabilities and had us scratching our heads. 2013 was a weird one that had us questioning where his jumpshot went, even though we knew he was still the best player on the court. It was just weird seeing him struggle with the open jumpers....
Don't call "sub 48%" Kobe-like. Kobe only shot over 43% from the field in ONE Finals in his entire career, and that was a joke sweep against the Nets.

Lebron shot 45% from the field and 35% from three while guarded by Kawhi with Duncan at the rim against one of the best defensive schemes in basketball. Kobe-like would have been 41% from the field and 32% from three at best in that situation.

Kobe and Bron had different responsibilities.

It would be interesting to see how KB would play if he had to be more of a distributor like Bron.....and how efficient would Bron be if he had to focus almost entirely on scoring.
We already saw that, with LeBron in Cleveland when his roster was as bad or worse than anything Kobe ever had. He still was far more efficient than Kobe and that was before he'd even developed an elite jump shot.

I asked and still non of these nikkas can answer. Find me a game where teams sagged off on kobe and dared him to shoot.

Someone brought up the stat that Lebron takes far more open threes than Kobe and y’all still arguing as if 1% means that much when kobe takes far more contested shots.

Just stop it lol

I'll show you a SERIES where the team dared kobe to shoot the team to a loss with his inefficiency

Everybody in that series was inefficient. Same with the Boston series. LeBron was ineffecient the playoff run in his first finals appearance the one where he supposedly singledhandedl willed his tteam past Detroit.and Ben Wallace wasn't even around. and horribly inefficient against the spurs. Timothy Puncan was horribly inefficient againts that Detroit team too.

:dahell: Now teams weren't scared of Kobe?
Professional players and coaches would tell you different. :mjlol:

Who the fukk said that? Y’all nikkas have zero reading comprehension. Teams aren’t as afraid of Kobe driving, dishing, and finishing so they play him much tighter on the three because he is an elite shooter. It doesn’t mean he isn’t a good driver, finisher, or passer...it means that teams aren’t game-planning to stop Kobe from penetrating defenses to create offense for others. You got a GOAT-tier shot maker who is only really good at driving and playmaking. You force him to put the ball on the floor and force him to finish over multiple defenders or live with the midrange.

Lebron is a GOAT-tier slasher and finisher. He’s pretty much Shaq-lite when he gets a step, he can finish through contact, and he’s one of the most gifted passers ever but he’s only a really great shooter. Teams would rather take away what Lebron is GOAT at and force him to beat them with what he’s only really good at instead of letting him do GOAT things. Teams sagged off on Mike when he was at 3 point line too or didn’t close out as hard. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t a great shooter, it’s just he’s a GOAT midrange player and finisher

This is why you can't take FGP that seriously. Shaq would routinely get the ball and do nothing with it and then pass it to the "shooters" late in the shot clock, much like LeBron James. Shaq was not and could not impose his will on the Wallace Boyz

Are you applying this to the 2nd half of Kobe's career or for his whole career. If the latter, you're an idiot :dead:

:mjlol: @ teams not being afraid of Kobe driving and finishing. Kobe was unguardable for a reason breh, he could do it all :wow:

these guys keep leaving out the Lakers were completely dysfunctional and pretty much broken up when that series went down. Everybody was beefing with each other the team chemistry wasn't good at all. These nikkas act like Kobe just sabotaged everything. Kobe was already better than Shaq at that point and the only win we got in that series was because of Kobe. Plus you had Karl hurt, GP mad about his role, Shaq mad about his contract and pretty much out of shape, and PJ pretty much in retirement mode. Kobe didn't play well that series but there was a lot of reasons the Pistons were able to do us like that

You gotta be a special kind of stupid to think that someone who shot less assisted 3 pointers at a higher percentage to be the worst shooter...

You gotta be a special kind of stupid to think because someone goat level passer and driver...therefore teams will give up the jumper it's a knock against him lol...

The reason why teams were willing to double Kobe cause they knew he would shoot it anyway and most likely miss

You’re a moron. We’re talking compared to Lebron or MJ aka GOAT-tier slashers and finishers.

Lebron is a much better finisher at the rim than Kobe and is a much more unstoppable slasher. It’s not even a comparison. The same argument you use to talk about Kobe getting guarded for threes applies to Lebron’s drives where he’s able to have a Shaq-like dominance in the paint despite teams playing him for the drive and to take away shots at the rim.

Kobe is an elite slasher but, at his best, he’s a tier below the likes of Bron and MJ. Same as Kobe being an elite shooter but he’s nowhere near GOAT like Curry or Durant.

Teams played Kobe to take away his shot and would rather live with him taking contested mid-ranges or challenging him to finish.

Kobe is the most media manufactured superstar of all time. When you actually do the research for yourself instead of listening to bullshyt narratives like “bu bu mamba mentality” not a single thing ever points to him being better than his peers, apart from him having more rings which were gifted to him by the most physically dominating player ever.

Wrong Suleiman Bey. This is exactly what Detroit said they did. And notice that they did it because they KNEW how Kobe would respond, because he always responded that way:

"Chauncey Billups: Our game plan was very calculated. We knew we were going to play Shaq straight-up. We knew there was no way we could stop Shaq straight-up. And there was also no way we could stop Kobe straight-up. But, if we’re going to play Shaq straight-up, [the Lakers'] eyes are going to get big, which means they’re going to keep throwing it down there. We’re telling Ben the whole time, "Take fouls when you need to, but don’t get yourself into foul trouble. You need to give up a layup, cool, we’re going to get what we want on the other side." But what’s going to happen is Mr. Bryant is going to get a little discouraged with getting no touches and now the second half comes around…now he’s pressing. He’s going to start coming down and just breaking the offense. When you do that, you’re done—you’re playing right into our hands. Even if you start making those shots, you’re finished."

Kobe "just breaking the offense" led to him shooting 38% from the field and 17% from three for the series, just horrific numbers.

Shaq, meanwhile, was shooting 63% off that single-coverage from Ben Wallace. Your claim that he was regularly passing out late in the shot clock is clearly bs as he only averaged 1.6 assists/game - unless the Lakers were missing 100% of those shots off of Shaq passes, then you must be making things up. He just plain wasn't getting touches.

Fisher (38% from three) and George (33% from three) were both hitting from the outside more effectively than Kobe. But Kobe still insisted on taking 113 shots in just 5 games, 30 more than Shaq and 77 more than any other Laker.
