LeBron has a higher 3 point percentage than Kobe, but i dont feel like that makes him a better shoot

That's the problem with you Kobe stans you're basing who is better at what based on emotions. Kobe has a smoother J and it looks pretty. I even understand that he had a habit of shooting his way out of scoring slumps and that affected his percentages but Lebron was already a pretty good shooter coming in but he has worked on his midrange game to the point where is essentially unguardable within 18 feet and he is averaging well above league average from 3.

HAVE U CHECKED LEBRONS MIDRANGE FG%

HERES A HINT, ITS ATROCIOUS

Anyone who acts like Lebron isn’t a great shooter is straight retarded but what makes his jumpshot so fearsome is that he’s a rhythm shooter that you can NEVER play too tightly because he’s unstoppable when getting to the rim.

Kobe is a much better “difficult shot” maker from range because teams aren’t nearly as scared of his driving/playmaking ability.

Lebron is a great shooter with ungodly high IQ and he’s still a shot maker, just not on Kobe’s level. Kobe is a better shooter but he has stupid ass shot selection which diminishes his numbers. He’s still elite.

Durant and Curry I’m entirely different planets as shooters. Kobe wishes he shot like Curry.

actually that's the correct strategy.

like, nobody ever went into a game and said "let's sag off Kobe"

But the Spurs did that to Lebron and it worked.

In 2007, he shot like 25% from midrange and three. Spurs gave him 5 feet of space to shoot. That was a winnable series despite the sweep.

in 2011, you know what the Mavs did...

in 2013, his jumper was straight garbage until Game 6. I think he was shooting 39% and 25% from three through the first few games. Why do you think Boris Diaw was having such great success?

in 2015, his jumper was yet again broken but i will give him a pass. no Kyrie or Love and he had a back injury

Yea, lebrons jumper has come a long way. Last season I couldn't believe the shots he was consistently making. :whoo:

It probably had something to do with him having his teammates to blame for losing and ZERO pressure to win a title or even reach the finals. :hubie:

Let's not act like that strategy wasnt working perfectly for the first 6 games of that series:skip:

They did it that entire series. Let's not act like they ain't have Boris Diaw damn near 18 feet away from LeBron at times

Took the nikka 7 games to finally hit an open jumper:pachaha:

If the Spurs got one more damn rebound:snoop:
Finals mvp proves otherwise... what was his fg% for that series?

Nothing on shot verasitiliy or nothing just straight numbers, Redikk> Curry then, do y’all realize people let Bron shoot while if Kobe is open you get cussed out
The reason this happens is that lebron is such a threat to drive that they would rather defend that then his now above average shot. Kobe wasn’t that kind of threat so why guard him that way.

He wasn’t the threat that Bron is but he still could finish phenomally at the rim until 2010

You aren’t wrong, but that difference is the difference in how teams approach them.

True but point still stands you’d be dumb to leave Kobe open from three he proved he would torch you, if LeBron was open it was more hit or miss. I’d love to see somebody take a random year and compute the percentage they shot on open threes compared to contested ones.

the ether
Imagine teams sagging off Kobe at the 3 point line :russ:
Because they know Kobe gonna shoot it anyway and they're not as afraid of what he'll do when he gets by him, so why would they sag? :gucci:

You're talking about a guy who averaged as many as 27 shots/game WITH defenders on him.

Kobe wasn't deadly from 18 feet and you could hold him to that shot even if you played up on him. If a defender tried to crowd LeBron 18 feet from the basket, it would be a long night.
Yep.

3s are the focal point of the game now

so of course Brons gonna step it up

In Kobes era it wasn't.
I hate that argument because it assumes that players/coaches were too dumb to realize that 3 is worth more than 2.

Like, a 40% 20-footer for 2 is less helpful than a 33% 23-footer for 3. Is that really THAT hard to understand? :ohhh:

Curse of the Shot selection. Kobe is a much more skilled shooter than Lebron. Look at those long 2’s and mid range comparisons.
In Miami LeBron shot:

49.3% from 3-10 feet
43.9% from 10-16 feet
41.4% from 16-23 feet
36.9% from three

Find a four-year stretch from Kobe that matches that. LeBron at his peak was better even in Kobe's sweet spot.

You got to factor Kobe was known for taking the last shot during games which is usually a 3 pointer and Lebron is more known to pass.

Also Kobe usually tried to bail his team out with multiple 3’s when they were down. So you also got to factor that.
Yet LeBron averages just as many last-second shots per season than Kobe, and MORE in the playoffs. So how does that "factor" into the equation?

Finals mvp proves otherwise... what was his fg% for that series?
LeBron shot 41% from three in 2013, 40% from three through the first three rounds of the playoffs, and 35% in the Finals with Kawhi on him...yet fools talking like LeBron couldn't hit threes until Game 7. :mjlol:

The next year LeBron shot 41% from three in the PLAYOFFS, including 52% in the FINALS with Kawhi draped all over him...

Kobe never hit 41% from three in any regular season or any playoff run in his 20-year career. :francis:
