I'd say most in media disliked Kobe. But have showed respect since passing.

Fan vote split.

Not a fukkin chance. Like WHAT. :heh: Where did the media “dislike” show up? Bc they accurately ranked him as a fringe top 10 player?

And as far as fans, they were the opposite. To this day Kobe, by fans, is regarded as the holy trinity of basketball almost always synonymously mentioned with Mike and Bron despite his resume not coming near supporting that. THAT is love. And even beyond player rank, Im talking about pure likeability. ‘like, indifferent, hate’. People HATE Lebron, legit vitriol. They did not feel that way for Kobe.

Who?!?! :mjtf: Who tf hates/hated Kobe in the past 10 years.

Trying too hard is ‘it’s not 100% I know a couple nggas :troll:

It’s not even fuking close. Lebron has diehard camps on both sides. I personally know people that literally hate this man. :heh: There is not and was not a diehard camp of people that ‘hated’ Kobe once the rape case died off. Period. Nitpicking at some metoo Maga folk does not count. You soundin like a culture vulture

ARE U RETARDED?

McDonalds Kobe wasnt well liked
Kobe vs Shaq 3 peat was 50/50.
Kobe lost alot of favor with the allegations.
Kobe gained favor winning without Shaq
Heel Kobe was 50/50
WNBA Kobe/Kobe Academy was highly regarded

Peer respect of Kobe post Shaq and Olympic run was high. Bean's success with Shaq was side eye'd by peers.

I was there:manny:

:bryan: That’s what nggas don’t understand. Lebron hate is unparalleled bc he gives endless ammo. He’s always sayin some weird shyt :bryan: Just 2 weeks ago he said stop heaping pressure on his kid….after he himself said MY SON CAN PLAY IN THE LEAGUE RIGHT NAH!

The level of :pacspit:that creates in people is unparalleled. Nggas got the nerve to say ‘Kobe was hated just as much’. Not a fukin chance

Couldn’t have been :childplease::pachaha:

Not if you typing ‘heel Kobe was 50/50’. For reference, Bron love/hate is 50/50. If you think Kobe was that disliked——and I’m talking NGGAS, hoopers, like walk into the rec and talk hoops, the barber shop, we are not counting old white folk and metoos——then you buggin.

And I already broke down the chronology

Kobe went from polarizing to beloved when he dropped the goody 2 shoes image. Once Kobe started cussin in his pressers and really leaned into the a$$hole vibes it was a wrap. That on top of having his own team.

Nas was speaking for the culture when he got at Kobe: You can't do better than that?/ The hotel clerk who adjusts the bathroom mat?" "You beat the rap, jiggaboo, fake ngga you, you turn around then you sh-- on Shaq.":huhldup:

That was 2004. That was a LONG time ago. After all of that died down, Kobe went from goody 2 shoes to a$$hole and everyone embraced him.

It’s actually simple psychology. People hate the appearance of ‘perfect’ or trying too hard. People want their pound of flesh. With the rape case, people got their pound of flesh. After that there was nothing else to hate. Kobe stopped trying to be perfect and the hate pivoted to love. There’s plenty of examples. Donald Trump is one. There’s nothing else to hate on so people start embracing the “villain”.

And to bring it back to the thread and Lebron, he’s so hated bc it appears he tries to be perfect, he ‘tries too hard’ :yeshrug:

This is the type of revisionist history that’s annoying. . Ngga, Kobe was BELOVED like no player in history. Maybe even more than Mike. BEFORE his death. His death only amplified it

Kobe went from polarizing to beloved when he dropped the goody 2 shoes image. Once Kobe started cussin in his pressers and really leaned into the a$$hole vibes it was a wrap. That on top of having his own team. As someone who wasn’t a fan and had to debate a group chat full of em, nah that shyt was always on an obsession level. Hence they trying to give Kobe credit for nggas starting a podcast :bryan:
I'm sorry but this is just false.

There were tons of people discrediting Kobe and claiming he was overrated or not a GOAT contender when he was still living. He had tons of stans too but that's what polarizing means. It means that people either love you or hate you without much nuance. It doesn't mean that you're widely disliked. Obviously, Kobe had tons of fans.

This definitely applied to Kobe because the rape trial soured his image among many people and lead to sports media downplaying him and there were tons of NBA fans who felt like Shaq gave him his first 3 rings, that Duncan was a better player in the 2000's, that he was a ballhog, a Jordan copycat who couldn't compare to the real deal, that he was never the best player in any given year, etc.

I remember these discussions being very frequent in basketball when Kobe was still living. Obviously, there were people who were praising him and calling him a GOAT too but it wasn't as universal as what you're saying.

Hell, I remember there was a corny joke that was widespread online back in the 2000's talking about how, when Kobe dies, his tombstone would say "He finally passed."

Kobe pre-death was the definition of "hate him or love him." He had tons of haters in sports media and basketball forums who were discrediting him and claiming that he was barely top 10. And they'd always claim that Duncan was better.

Oh word :jbhmm:

I just want Kobe to take care of my heart, as I left it with him.

Will I ever feel this way for another player? I doubt it. I probably won't. I won't.

It's been a great journey and I'm lucky and blessed to share this with all of you.

So many great memories. So many tears shed.

I just...cannot believe this.

I'm honored to have seen this man hoop for 20 seasons. But selfishly, it wasn't enough. It's not fair. I'm going to get through this but this will not be easy.

This post is referencing his final game, not him dying :dead: 80 daps. Polarizing my fukin ass. I ain’t hearing it

It's not about Reddikk's reaction, it's Bron saying it in the first place.

It just doesn't fit and is just cringe as shyt at least to me

Thats black people shyt they have no clue what that shyt is about

Nah most teams aren't doing versions of what he was talking about. It isn't common at all. SOME do, this being an example which I posted earlier, but you don't see this often at all

There are HS coaches in the comments saying their teams do it. Also ….it’s an inbound play. It’s the first episode and that’s his #1 thing to get off his chest :mjtf:

I think in a nuthsell this person sums it up

It’s pretty pretentious. Comically so
