I remember living in Crown Heights walking to Bushwick to see some of my homies in 2018 and it happened to be the pride parade thingy and these white lesbians and gays were dodging black folks that lived in the neighborhood left and right!

Even though they lived in the same neighborhood!

I have no problem with gay folks or lesbians, I've had gay and lesbian friends and I have a transgender sibling in my own family...but that doesn't excuse their racism at all.

I was just like "if you don't like us you can't leave the neighborhood", don't use your orientation as a mask for your bigotry.

That's my only issue with THEM...hell, that's my MAIN criticism with them.

Billy disappointed me by saying this. I hate that people want to think or perceive black people having the monopoly on homophobia when it's these straight white republican men in America by and large writing laws and actively oppressing gay people.

Black people get demonized for so much when by and large I just think we're probably the most accepting of everybody TBH cause black people know what it's like to be oppressed and discriminated and all of that.

Black people were STRIPPED of all knowledge of self and culture when we arrived on the shores of America..

Then slapped us with white names and christianity and culture..

How can one understand this, then make the statement he made? Knowing that humans are creatures of habit.

Then take a pic arm and arm with the descendant of the people who did this to black people..

The irony is white gays are some of the most racist individual's out there.

I know people overact online but in real life nobody actually cares.

I have gay black friends. I'm sure many on here have family and friends who are black and gay. I don't want to know what you get up to and most gay people dont feel the need to flaunt that either.

Ayo...I remember me and my friends were at a house party in bushwick at this white gay dude's (a promoter friend of my friend's I just tagged along cause we were going to go to the bar anyways if the party sucked) place and we just fukking left in 30 minutes cause these people were so racist to us it was uncomfortable. Not to mention the party really sucked and these were some new moneyed types.



One of them joked about my friend saying "I'll see you at my job soon enough"...he worked in a JAIL. I have more nightmare stories of that night I don't care to go into of just these people making sly racist jokes and it really felt like they were just telling us to leave without even saying it. Not only were they racist but played dumb about it too.



Also, cops ain't hunting down gay folks like that...but if you black and gay or lesbian or trans...just by being black you're ten times more suciptyible to police violence.

Billy porter messed up saying this...he's excusing the racism of white gays and the racism of white people in general by comparing black people as any sort of oppressive entity.

And that's definitely NOT the energy we need right now with all of these protests and pushes for racial justice going on nationwide.

Too many people of all types love to conveniently omit the infliuence of blatant white racism whether on a macro or micro level cause they're afraid to offend or discomfort their white peers. fukk that. Now is the time for uncomfortable conversations otherwise we're going to get nowhere. People need to see reality for themselves and that's what's important about now. The veils been pulled down...the masquerade is over.

WE can't go back to the way things were is it was filled with inequality and injustice....we can't pretend that white people aren't and haven't been actively complicit in creating these conditions that have us rioting and protesting right now.
